Jund charm is so good, and skarrg is absolute trash..and with that congrats to mrwegle

by mishimakaz on 2010-09-05 22:18 CET

Dark Confidant> you

by Counterlife on 2010-09-05 22:20 CET

Yea, gratz. Next time, I dont forget to add Godless shrine to my deck and I will go all....the.....way...

by akill on 2010-09-05 22:22 CET

well ofc i get this deck from net,i saw it 5 min before trial starts.
but i have to say Jund Charm > all my red friends ;)
gz all

by Chefy on 2010-09-05 22:46 CET

I wish I could have not played Fae :(. I think I had a competitive match up with everything else.

by Weedmonkey on 2010-09-05 22:49 CET

Good to see some variety beyond simply Faeries :) Interesting that Urza's Saga is the only 'old' set in the top 4 though - I wonder if that's reflecting what players are comfortable with or there's a metagame shift.

All in all, good job guys :)

by Fozz on 2010-09-05 23:10 CET

Well to be fair 5th edition and Ice age are in the fae deck.

But to be fair I played Jund expecting decks like RecSur and other slower decks, so I wanted to be fast yet versatile...tba this format has sooo much sligh/aggro...

R1 Goblins with ONS
R2 Current T2 Jund
R3 WW, which I lucksacked hard to beat
R4 Akill w/ Goblins (he disconnected during g3, but it was looking like I was pulling ahead, but we will never know)
and R5 Mrwegle with Dark Proc Boros

Thisd top need moar darkwizard and moar eldariel

nice to see new decks on the top :P

by kaiijy on 2010-09-06 01:19 CET

@Fozz

Probably because Aggro lists are easier to build and specially "play". Ofc, there's a huge difference between a good player playing aggro and a bad player doing the same, but its not that much compared to control decks. That's just an opinion, not trying to take your credit away. Good deck. Well performed.

I'm sorry but that jund doesn't really seems good to me. At all.

-3 bituminous in a deck with 4 confidant and only 23 lands (with 3 bouncelands, yeah, ok).
- no maelstrom pulse
- no lifegaining

I could understand the power of bituminous blast, but a 3x of a 5cc it's not so awesome with the 4 confidant and with the fact you playing 23 lands. Also, no maelstrom pulse in jund is kinda terrible, so -3 bit blast (and maybe -1 rise/fall) +3/4 (or 3+24th lands 'cause i don't like play the uncommon duals with savage lands and shocklands) maelstrom pulse imho is reasonable.

Then, i've already said that i don't like to play bouncelands with savage lands and shocklands ...the m10 duals are really that bad? they hit the battlefield always untapped with any of the ravnica-duals in play. Obvs they're not a oneland-two mana, but whatever.

Last thing, one of the most important reason for your defeat to boros i think is the absence of lifegaining, i suppose: with m11 you can play 4 obsinate baloth (instead of the magma spray i think)

by Verystrait42 on 2010-09-06 01:43 CET

Ice Age is actually Rav in the Fae list.

by peluca on 2010-09-06 01:56 CET

:)

by ykpon on 2010-09-06 02:21 CET

gj mrwegle :)

by Fozz on 2010-09-06 02:44 CET

@kaiijy can't argue with anything you said, you are right.

@[-a-L-e-] Pulse came out when I wanted my removal to either cascade or cost 2 or less, the deck is more aggro than midrange...on the bit blast + dark confidant front...back when it was Rav Tsp 10th i remember greater gargadon and hit/run being in the same deck with bob...so me playing 3 5 drops vs those decks playing 4 9 drops and 4 "8" drops..seems justifiable.

Baloth is bad in aggro...just saying...spray won me games vs WW and goblins, even though i kinda wished it was fallout to a point.

by Mizukage on 2010-09-06 02:53 CET

is the fae deck illegal? remand is nowhere to be found in those sets

Edit: yeah, its RAV

but still, RAV gives what? Watery grave? Timespiral wouldve been better fit imo i.e., damnation and what not. living end anyone?

props to the top 2 decks, very gutsy lists

by bugaga on 2010-09-06 03:44 CET

GJ mrwegle!

by Vulture on 2010-09-06 04:36 CET

T1 vs T2 vs netdeck vs netdeck

by Counterlife on 2010-09-06 04:38 CET

@ Vulture
Hence why they lose. The copious amounts of suicide burn clearly showed there were better decks, and the top 2 decks arent even optimal! On the other hand, its easy to google up the decks that topped the last event and let it pilot itself.

by center on 2010-09-06 06:18 CET

Kids these days complaining about 23 lands when you have 3 karoos

by [-a-L-e-] on 2010-09-06 13:10 CET

@ center: wow, 3 karoos...THREE! you'll going to see at least one of them like always, right? c'mon XD...

@ Fozz: magma spray it's a strong card for sure, and fallout is it too (and faeries are always on the line in format like this...). But why baloth is bad in aggro? look at the boros list: the only way to kill it is with char, doing 2 damage to them too (and how you said, you're an aggrodeck: if they have to do a 2x1 with two of their burnspells of shock themselves for kill a creature bigger than all the others that already gave you 4 life...i really think is good.

bit blast i just think it's a little hard to cast if you don't see one of the 3 bouncelands or you don't get two-three turns with confidant in play...it's more powerful than pulse of course (bit blast in solifuge on bb elf it's amazing), and i don't see how pulse would make the deck a midrange, it's just a strong removal spell.

by darkwizard42 on 2010-09-06 15:09 CET

zomg. the tech in the top 2 lists is so dirty.

Congrats on building such amazing lists. The Jund list is dirrrrty, that land package however, is worth investigating. And as said before lack of lifegain means for a rough time when playing against extremely aggro decks.

The Boros is just too sick. Proclamation???!!! Nice tech, very impressed with these new lists. Fae and Gobbos are meh, both definitely very powerful, and I can definitely see how they crush most average matchups. Lack of Kamigawa in the Fae list is likely why it lost, Jitte + Hideous Laughter owns most aggro lists

@magicrichi: was in DC with family, no time to even play trial =(

http://magic-league.com/decks/archive/47/myos.html

As you see here this is my top 4th top 4 with 4 different decks, and all my decks is mine or my friend's build them.
I am hate netdecking, and after each trial I try build different deck.
To all who said that deck is weird yes it is, but I'm not Kai Budde and I can't build the best deck afer 5 test games if YOU can where are YOU?
Deck was build some time ago, when MUC, zoo and Fae (with tsp) were big part of the meta and those decks had mass removal (damnation or disk) so I need proclamination vs them (C.A.)
If you want play this deck - plains -1 Scorched Rusalka -2 proclamination, (yes now it is bad, but it will mirror for you) +2 lands (red!) and some +2 cards.
