by Eldariel on 2010-06-04 20:05 CET

...I shouldn't have dropped. Damn real life. Also, that wizard-deck is awsum :D

by CalebD on 2010-06-04 20:21 CET

Hmm... Smothers have been really good in the ML meta. I mean, the only deck I don't board them in against is Rean, which is a fantastic matchup anyway. Maybe -2 Spell Snare and +2 Smother? I've tried a singleton Rend Flesh to up the 3cc spells for CB, but the extra mana makes a big difference.

It was nice to beat Fae Stompy, for once.

by Eldariel on 2010-06-04 20:41 CET

@superhead: Wait, you beat FS with Countertop Stiflenought? Nice job. How does that work tho? He just didn't have all that many Chalices, or?

Aphotic Wisps

again

by ykpon on 2010-06-04 21:06 CET

Looks like we need some tech against monoblack decks :3

by darkwizard42 on 2010-06-04 21:26 CET

TugaChampion: Aphotic wisps won me a game, I think it needs to be more burn or something, but the cantrip is nuts

ykpon: yes...=(

by cabof on 2010-06-04 21:43 CET

can 1st place really be called suicide?

by TugaChampion on 2010-06-04 21:45 CET

I have lost games to bad cards. That doesn't make them good.

by ykpon on 2010-06-04 22:02 CET

darkwizard42, some noncreature source of permanent damage like Sulfuric Vortex mb?

TugaChampion, i admit the idea of Kiln Fiend aggro can be quite bad by itself. But once you already run this puppy, there is no way to do it without being able to somehow make it unblockable, isn't that obvious? And if such card deals up to three damage itself and cantrips for just one mana. And if you have enough discard to be sure your opponent doesn't have something unfair to make wisps two for one. Come on, just be sure you've put your hands on a playset of foil wisps before they are $30 each! :3

Really pissed that I missed this trial.. I wanted to defend my place on top.

by nopenopenope on 2010-06-05 01:58 CET

Legacy is the best format by far. Those deck are cheaper then 2 and ther are all original

by darkwizard42 on 2010-06-05 03:10 CET

3rd deck is crazy expensive. The first two are easily in the $200-300, I guess the comforting part is that they will not rotate out in like 6 months.

by DH on 2010-06-05 04:18 CET

dredge is the most efficient deck for the money

by BandaBear on 2010-06-05 04:18 CET

Kiln Fiend deck is about 500 bucks

by neosystems on 2010-06-05 04:35 CET

Legacy is cheaper than T2. lol

by CalebD on 2010-06-05 06:58 CET

^Yeah, the third deck looks expensive, but I've played with most of those cards for the past five years and I expect to for another five+. Also, I could sell the deck for much more than I paid for it. A five year old standard deck is typically worth diddly-squat.

Oh, and I picked up a set of foil Guul Draz Assasins at FNM earlier. I think the card could be decent in a format where dark confidant is heavily played. In later turns it can tangle with goyf, too. Especially if protected with a CB...

by mrwegle on 2010-06-05 08:45 CET

Ykpon : You should try cursed scroll in your deck.

by marc_31 on 2010-06-05 10:21 CET

monoblack is not that expensive.. just replacing 4 fetches for swamps! the rest could stay over 100 ~
(same as two jace)

gogo armada!!!

by RiQuSP on 2010-06-05 13:28 CET

Kiln Fiend is new Tarmogoyf obv =/

by Steveman on 2010-06-05 18:53 CET

I'm curious to how Gull Draz Assassin turned out

by darkwizard42 on 2010-06-05 23:07 CET

SteveMan: was not relevant against me except for the fact that he would have had another creature to attack me with, but I only had 1 real good game against him, the other was a blowout
