props to wookie that is a hella creative deck...I must learn from you how to play it...Bant is turning into Naya, and Naya is turning into card advantage Jund...oh boy...

by JacobMatthew on 2010-05-24 05:31 CET

no jace!

by Almi on 2010-05-24 06:16 CET

GG all

Good Job Nickname7, ur doing a great time at magic-league. Hope u do the same at Regs and Nat, i trust in you :)

by Eldariel on 2010-05-24 07:47 CET

Jund so overplayed.

by TugaChampion on 2010-05-24 08:52 CET

How is Jund overplayed?

Not counting those random decks with only 3 or less players there's only 2 decks that performed better:

5 UW Control (4.2%) 13-7-1 (61.9%)
4 Naya Allies (3.36%) 8-4-0 (66.66%)

And their numbers are still very low to take out anything from them.

The only other deck that was decently played is mythic and it has a worse percentage of wins.

On the monowhite deck: I tried it and it isn't good enough. I guess 2 byes and being played by a good player helps but eventually something would go wrong. When I played the deck, several games I would stop at 2, 3 or 4 lands too.

Props to sakita for playing a good jund list. I played that too but lost to mythic round3 and psychatok round6. Against mythic he topdecks sovereign when he's out of cards in hand and only has lands and mana dorks and I obv fail to find removal g1. G3 he plays sovereign turn3 (which should be sided out against jund) and my jund charm is too slow for that. Against psychatok I fail to draw a single bloodbraid in all 3 games.

at last but not least: wtf are those random UG Turboland and vampires doing in the top8?

by LordLink on 2010-05-24 09:21 CET

why is magic-league maindecking so many goblin ruinblasters? its a phenomonon that doesn't seem to be happening anywhere else in the world but ALL of the Jund decks do it here :S.

Congrats Psychatok, gogo Aussies.

by TugaChampion on 2010-05-24 09:55 CET

lordlink: that's mtgo tech. basically it's to improve the mirror and UW match ups and than your sb destroys all those random mythic, naya and w/e decks.

oh yeah, and thanks to djinn, wh ran the master so efficiently. All the five rounds I've played the tournament had no delay, including round 1 (for the first time!). Congratulations dude

by Pegachris on 2010-05-24 14:56 CET

@Tuga
ohh boo hoo Jund deck failing to draw a bloodbraid elf. Wah Wah.

Play a deck that actually takes a moderate amount of thought to play then you earn the right to complain.

by sakita on 2010-05-24 15:30 CET

congratz to djin
really nice job

by SJM on 2010-05-24 15:38 CET

Naya, Allies, Bant, and Mythic take no more skill to play than Jund does.

Skill is a vastly overrated element of magic, especially as it comes to constructed formats where relevant mythic rares cost $70 each.

by TugaChampion on 2010-05-24 17:24 CET

Pegachris: who the hell are you to say if I have the right to complain or not? Sure jund doesn't have much skill involved but most decks in the format also don't. In this format over 60% of the game very one-sided, that it is almost impossible to mess up to the point of losing it. In the rest of the games even Monored does involve some skill.

by iMrAnderson on 2010-05-24 17:59 CET

just notices this and it made me smile.
1 UG Turboland (.84%) 6-1-0 (85.71%)
85.71% that ladies, is the highest win percentage of any deck in the master (that played all 7 rounds.)

by GoneBananas on 2010-05-24 18:35 CET

1 RG Land Destruction (.84%) 1-0-0 (100%)
best deck in the format

by Djinn on 2010-05-24 19:02 CET

cheers :D

by iMrAnderson on 2010-05-24 19:05 CET

Tird_Ape, I looked for the RG Land Destruction list but couldn't find it.

wow 34 lands in the land attack deck??

by BandaBear on 2010-05-24 20:57 CET

I think I played an amazing Jund list.
I just lost to Eldrazi jund after mulling to 5 back to back. then lost to that mythic deck when playing for top 8

by kaoak on 2010-05-24 21:22 CET

Well Tuga... that's why some ppl call standard to be pokemon

by InWaking on 2010-05-24 22:50 CET

I've been testing the mythic conscription deck and it may look like it takes little to no skill it actually requires thought to play.

by TugaChampion on 2010-05-24 23:05 CET

inwaking: some people also think 60islands.dec requires skill.

by OldBear on 2010-05-25 00:02 CET

Adam Prozak aka Ihatepants, hell of a player.

by enfinit on 2010-05-25 02:08 CET

So anyone have any opinions on that White Control deck besides Tuga? Not that his opinion is invalid but mostly looking for glass half full approach instead of the other.

No Baneslayer seems wrong. At least two. Maybe 26 lands 6 to 8 fetches. Lone emissary for knight of white orchid maybe. I can see recycling for life with fisher to be good though.

Also I think that the winning deck should have it's own meta slot since it seems pretty original. UWr Walker with Bant Conscription crack baby seems really nice. Rock solid aggro control combo. I hope to see this list start topping. The only problem I can see is being spread out too much, but otherwise solid. It can 3rd turn all the walkers. Reminds me when dudes starting shoving thopter and depths together.

Kinda sucked to find out the white list didn't play first 2 rounds blah. Kinda less impressed now but I still hope it can be good.

*Activates Tuga Flame Shield*

by SJM on 2010-05-25 03:15 CET

re: enfinit,

Until cascade rotates out of standard that mono-white deck will never be anything but tier 2.

The deck doesn't need fetches because it already has 7 ways to search for land in the non-land portion of the main deck and the life loss is a minor, but unnecessary, sacrifice.

I think throwing a bunch of planeswalkers into Mythic doesn't change the deck sufficiently to be considered its own archetype. Cutting baneslayer seems strictly wrong in a format where people are throwing 34creatures.dec at your face.

by Guachin on 2010-05-25 05:07 CET

About ww deck of Tird ape.. i only have to say.. it need the lands specially when he played me he need the flood to activate emerias and play Ulamog and all is dust. yeah he hardcast me and Ulamog. the he have the cartographer and Piligrim`s.

Congrats to all top8
