by neckfire on 2010-04-19 05:02 CET

lol go go go illegal's

by Conkisstador on 2010-04-19 05:28 CET

Erayo not universally banned... but Rofellos sure is.

by gypsy on 2010-04-19 06:14 CET

rofellos is rly only good 1v1 and considering this is a multiplayer format its not and doesnt need to be banned, and braids is universally banned

by adventur_ on 2010-04-19 09:40 CET

Since you can't play multiplayer over MWS (yet?), it's somewhat of a moot point to discuss that. Plus, EDH has a valid 1v1 player base by now and the strategies differ significantly.

But as you can see, people are still only getting used to the format. The decks are highly undertuned and suboptimal in card choice and strategy; I suggest to give random games on mwsplay a go sometimes, there is quite a few EDH regulars lurking around there that could teach people a thing or two about competitive 1v1 EDH :)

by on 2010-04-19 13:24 CET

Erayo or Rofellos are NOT banned according to the official EDH rules committee.

by on 2010-04-19 13:39 CET

#3 is illegal. Red cards!

by GoneBananas on 2010-04-19 13:55 CET

kobolds and cranial :)

by on 2010-04-19 14:08 CET

Nice cheats EmoNinja..

by ykpon on 2010-04-19 14:38 CET

Kobolds seem to be legal as they don't have red mana symbols in their costs and textboxes. Cranial Plating does though :>

by Tao on 2010-04-19 15:49 CET

you kids and your illegal decks

by TheWatery on 2010-04-19 16:37 CET

Rofellos is not a banned general unless specifically designated by ML. The Official EDH rules unbanned him ages ago.

by Lynolf on 2010-04-19 17:08 CET

Highlander > 1v1 Elder Dragon Highlander.

by OldBear on 2010-04-19 17:54 CET

Gifts ungiven should be banned in this format, it is outright unfair, in any singleton format, even if your opponent is not playing ways to abuse graveyard.

by adventur_ on 2010-04-19 19:05 CET

Given what you can do in this format, Gifts isn't even close to being the most ban-worthy card. Going by the "official" EDH banned list, the following cards should imho be banned in 1v1:

Necropotence
Ad Nauseam
Mana Crypt
Sol Ring
Tolarian Academy

Life totals obviously inflate the first two, the latter ones are just degenerate accelerators that hugely tip the scales for the player who happens to draw them first/early. Also, Rofellos should probably be banned as a general as well, for obvious reasons.

As it stands now, the best decks in the format are Erayo, anything using ANT, Sharuum and Rofellos - though the latter two are usually much, much better designed than its representatives in this particular event ;)

by ykpon on 2010-04-19 20:16 CET

Trotsky1, it IS banned :>

Trotsky1, it IS banned :>

by on 2010-04-19 20:42 CET

Good thing the format wasn't made for or supported for 1v1 play. The format is supposed to be casual, so you will never see bans based on 1v1 play.

by Conkisstador on 2010-04-19 20:55 CET

rofellos is the best hero in EDH by a landslide. you can builda deck of nothing but 5drops and forests and unless they have a removal spell on turn 2, 4, and 6... they cannot stop you. for the same reason sol ring and mana crypt are unfiar for whoever draws them first, Rofellos is better than that and GUARANTEED.

by yokai on 2010-04-19 21:37 CET

3 cheated decks and 3 crapy decks
nice

by DuCK on 2010-04-19 22:05 CET

rofellos isn't the best general in multiplayer edh, but he sure is a house in a duel and def should be banned.
Aventur: there's a 1v1 banlist that people go by on mwsplay and those cards you listed are banned.

by adventur_ on 2010-04-19 23:03 CET

I know of the mtgsalvation banned list which does indeed cover the cards I find most problematic; it does however also cover cards I find ridiculous to ban like Crucible of Worlds - guess it'll take someone to take this format to a more competitive level before there can be a comprehensive banned list.

*hint* *hint*

by OldBear on 2010-04-21 13:33 CET

Oh so the first place deck is illegal lol

by nopenopenope on 2010-04-28 02:33 CET

Gift ungiven is Banned in EDH ml rules. None of those decks are legal.

by DuCK on 2010-04-28 04:02 CET

i can't find a problem with the 2nd place deck.
