MONOW.

Shit happens.

Nicely done Shooter and Pika!

Gratz to u all

by tchiseen on 2010-04-12 06:41 CET

UW Allies top 8, technical.

by Weedmonkey on 2010-04-12 06:51 CET

Interesting t8. MWC winning it is certainly left of centre, and there's more red-based decks than i would've thought, but looks like PTQ season will be interesting.

Also, wtf is up with Blazing Torch in the burn SB?

Other than that, congrats to everyone :)

by Sandro on 2010-04-12 06:51 CET

CalebD, well it looks like its a good thing you beat me yesterday to qualify. Paid off it seems. :) Glad you did well.

by P1n on 2010-04-12 07:26 CET

re Weedmonkey: it's to kill kor firewalker

by Mitchmachine on 2010-04-12 08:20 CET

blazing torch is actually some really nice tech!

by TugaChampion on 2010-04-12 08:35 CET

ROFL blazing torch on a red creature doesn't kill kor firewalker...

by FiReBLT on 2010-04-12 08:48 CET

Blazing torch gives the ability to a red creature to hit a target for 2.

However, a firewalker cannot be targetted by a red creature, so although the damage would be able to be dealt, as the damage source would be red, the red creature with this granted ability cannot target the firewalker in the first place.

I hope you didn't kill any firewalkers with that :)

by P1n on 2010-04-12 08:56 CET

Equipped creature has "{T}, Sacrifice Blazing Torch: Blazing Torch deals 2 damage to target creature or player."

Yeah true, the red creature is the one who target's, I thought blazing torch acted like fire whip

by Weedmonkey on 2010-04-12 09:07 CET

Fireblt's got it :)

by RiQuSP on 2010-04-12 10:56 CET

lol nice invitational..
lol nice decks..

gj punting brimstone, you would've won this bitch so hard =/

by CalebD on 2010-04-12 11:21 CET

Thanks Sandro.

N-Miranda: I recommend Unstable Footing. I think that's mono red's only way of handling Firewalker.

by GFSS on 2010-04-12 11:32 CET

good job N-miranda and pikaa !!

by TugaChampion on 2010-04-12 11:41 CET

GJ Miranda and Pika! I should have top8ed too :(

btw the best wat for monored to deal with firewalker is splashing black to play doom blade and deathmark in the side obv.

by wurst12 on 2010-04-12 12:46 CET

I did reasonably well with a similar Mono-W build. It's a surprisingly solid deck and will only get better once it gets Wall of Blossoms.

by andre2008 on 2010-04-12 13:01 CET

Mono White Control!!! :D

Good Job Pikanso e Shooter.

by GoneBananas on 2010-04-12 14:14 CET

mono white control is actually really good in this meta game with solid matchups vs most decks. The main weak one is RDw/blightning which after sb becomes easy
here's my matchups
r1 bye XD
r2 uw control
r3 vampires
r4 uw control
r5 ID
r6 ID
QF mythic bant aka bye
SF UW control
Finals Blightning, split with ffan but played it out and i won :P
i was hoping to play more jund but alas it was not meant to be. UW is a little in my favor but i really have to play flawlessly to win.

by mishimakaz on 2010-04-12 14:25 CET

sweet allies list. How was geopede, Ffancrazy?

by Ryk on 2010-04-12 15:26 CET

Go go Umara Raptor and my build Uw allies xD

Go go Meeeeeeeee

Go go N-Mirandaaaaaaa

Go go Brazil and Portugal ....

by bilo on 2010-04-12 16:42 CET

Metagame Breakdown pls.. :)

by Makuherra on 2010-04-12 18:41 CET

r3 vampires
are you sure it was vampires?
maybe he had 2 byes or 2 mirrors, thats only way to see vampires on round 3.

by Lynolf on 2010-04-12 20:43 CET

N-Miranda, és o meu herói! Tu também, Pikas! =D

Bilo: I will do it if no one else volunteers... but only on thursday, when I will be avaliable.

by Ffancrzy on 2010-04-12 22:29 CET

Hey guys. I was really happy with the way the deck played out. I was getting sick of pussyfooting around vs decks like Jund, so I just wanted to be as straight forward as possible and just ignore what you are doing.

My matches were:
R1: UWGr Aggro
R2: RDW (I fought through 3 Dragon Claws with a 6 card hand and won, Sarcastic Rat did a great job of covering this match, check it out on the coverage site!)
R3: Empty the Vaults
R4: UW Control
R5: ID
R6: ID
QF: RDW
SF: Time Sieve
Finals: Mono W Control, Tird_Ape and I agreed to split before hand.

Overall, I'm surprised I won the 2 RDWs m/u's, and in both I won despite multiple Dragon Claws by blightning for value, the card advantage helped.

My board was a little suspect, but I had just pulled the deck from DeckCheck with no testing as I had just audibled to it. The Geopede was fairly good, but probably the worst creature in the deck. I don't think there is anything to trade it for.

My matches:

Next masters 2 hours earlier? I'm sure that I lost my QF because of a lack of concentration (almost 1:00 AM CET).
