I know that a lot of MtG players are young and/or have anger/self-esteem issues because they're not popular, get picked on, etc. (I know that many do NOT fall into these categories; just saying that many do). Still, it never ceases to amaze me the level of insecurity and immaturity shown by some @$$holes on MWS (I'm referring to your opponent here, not you, to be clear). I'm a bit disppointed though that YOU dropped at such taunts - it's your opponent that should have been DQ'd (or at least given a warning, then if he/she persisted after the warning, DQ'd).

Do we not have standards of decency/respect in this league? To the judges out there - What is M-L's policy towards this sort of thing, and what should players on M-L tournaments do if faced with this sort of nonsense?

my deck was more controlly than vampiry, but vampires works fine.

by tinchokal on 2009-12-22 00:34 CET

agree with Kytep.
Request logs or sthg, and take action. Even though the trial is over, this sort of attitude shouldnt be tolerated

by on 2009-12-22 00:41 CET

Hermit 11, why Elemental Appeal MD instead of Quenchable Fire? Also, do you prefer Magma Rift over Mark of Mutiny?

Tks!

by P_P4E on 2009-12-22 01:06 CET

I love 2nd place deck. I think you lost, as im sure you probably can tell us, because you didnt have as many bloodwitch/nighthawk as him. I think you can cut the lacerator and add in the hexmage and make the matchup better too, not that its THAT probable of a matchup...

I'm talking out of my ass with all that, but only slightly.

by Hermit11 on 2009-12-22 01:40 CET

@Kytep: i didnt drop because of my opponent i dropped because i would not use the byes to the master and maybe someone else will put them to use.

@mess: appeal vs fire is really a toss up on which to run main and which side its just preference, and yeah i like rift much more because it actually kills baneslayer as opposed to making it bigger.

Am I the only one who doesn't see the RDW in that metagame list?

by darkwizard42 on 2009-12-22 03:11 CET

At least 1 RDW darking...=/

by MotC on 2009-12-22 03:43 CET

Mono Red has never been a real deck since Goblins. So he has no reason to include it :)

by DARKING on 2009-12-22 05:04 CET

My bad, I skipped it while looking at the list. It is updated now, and RDW does appear.

by 104player on 2009-12-22 05:06 CET

dragon's claw in a mono-black deck?

by rehpotsirhc on 2009-12-22 06:18 CET

for the RDW matchup of course! :)

@Kytep: i didnt drop because of my opponent i dropped because i would not use the byes to the master and maybe someone else will put them to use.

-------------------------

Ah. Thanks for the clarification, as well as for your maturity and grace in leaving the byes for someone else. After looking at your ratings log, it appears that you got the Round 5 win. I originally interpreted your post as saying that you quit and gave that opponent the win. Glad that's not the case.

If it's not already the in place, I would like to see a policy where people who act in such an immature fashion as your opponent allegedly did, would be at least suspended from M-L tourneys (league matches?) for some time, if not banned. Such behavior harms M-L, and I personally don't think a game or match loss would be sufficient punishment (in my experience, "noob" and such flailing drivel comes out more often when these immature, insecure a-holes are losing, so a game/match loss often won't change anything for them).

Cascade Desire? I wonder what that is...

by DARKING on 2009-12-22 07:49 CET

Cascade Desire is a deck with a lot of cards with Cascade. A typical Cascade Desire will have things like Bloodbraid Elf, Captured Sunlight, Deny Reality, Enlisted Wurm, and similar cascade cards, plus a package of spells to cascade too, normally removal, card drawing, or discard spells.

by GaryOak on 2009-12-22 10:28 CET

2nd place deck is awesome! Im deff gonna try something similar on FNM some day!

by Simonixx on 2009-12-22 10:54 CET

@1°-2° players: can i know which deck u met?

Thx

by kumagmd on 2009-12-22 12:07 CET

I'd suggest probable bans on a*sholes on M-L. They make this League and the game we love very disrespectable.

by Raybelfast on 2009-12-22 14:05 CET

@kumagmd thats a big percentage of the league

by black1234 on 2009-12-22 17:54 CET

no T2 dredge?

by Eldariel on 2009-12-22 18:18 CET

@Kytep: Next time something like that happens, come to #judges4you. We DO have rules on things like this. People have been banned before for Unsporting Conduct, and even just a warning (the most likely penalty for first such offense) means future penalties will be more severe.

by Kytep on 2009-12-22 18:29 CET

@Eldariel: Thanks. Glad to hear there's a policy like this in place, and thanks for clarifying.

by geestyler on 2009-12-22 19:28 CET

I actually think it's funny that even some judges freak out when they lose. Example: I'm playing vs. one of them (no names here, it's too long ago), with URW Control against UW Fog. I got like 15 cards left in my library, 7 cards in hand and a Baneslayer on the board. I don't activate my Jace, why should I. So that guy completely freaks out, calls me noob, bad player n sht, because I didn't activate my Jace - for not letting him win with his Archive Trap.

But well, getting ego'ed or whatever you wanna call it doesn't bother me at all, sometimes i'm a bad player, sometimes my opponent just sucks. It's still sad that people can't control themselves.

by grenouille on 2009-12-22 19:44 CET

if u can t control yourself stiop playing magic it is not good for u and your opponent sometimes this game is frustratin but i love it and i ll never insult my opponent as it is not his fault same if he is playin like a noob it is the game ...U have to say it to judges Kytep and say his name too he don t have to do that anymore....
we don t need stupid player like that
To return to real game what is the real use of Eldrazi monument ? mirror?

by Duodax on 2009-12-23 02:11 CET

it should steal games, obviosly...

by kumagmd on 2009-12-23 02:38 CET

Lots of Vampires + Eldrazi Monument + Bloodghast + lands = lotsa indestructible flying vampires with +1/+1. It's also the same with Mono-G Eldrazi, just replace vampires with GREEN CRITTERS and Bloodghast with Planeswalkers (Garruk or Nissa). Heck, that might even work in a Goblin Deck.
