5c cascade !

by Kulafreeze on 2009-10-27 01:45 EDT

no fetchlands in MWC...?
O-ring isn't good since Pulse is everywhere~

by cmc on 2009-10-27 01:55 EDT

if they pulse oring then baneslayer etc sticks. Seems fine to me.

by Eldariel on 2009-10-27 03:29 EDT

Jund seems like the perennial third place deck. Also, who plays mono-white? :/

by Fow on 2009-10-27 03:48 EDT

the right question is who plays mwc with scepter of dominance and pitfall trap main deck???

by Eldariel on 2009-10-27 05:49 EDT

Meh, I think my question is right. Why play mono-W over UW? Emeria? Over card draw, counters & Sphinx? Emeria is strictly useful in control mirrors.

Counters and card draw are slightly better in control mirrors. Playing Mono-W over UW basically means giving up control tools vs. other decks and picking up an inferior set of tools for the mirror.

If mono-W can be good, UW can be better before more cards specifically shining in mono-W are printed (preferably ones that shine in MUs other than control mirror).

by ykpon on 2009-10-27 05:56 EDT

Kulafreeze, no fetchlands until i decide to splash a red Ajani.
Fow, that guy from starcity 5k who i netdecked just replacing 2 ionas with to more traps. And the scepter isn't only a bad removal combined with a bad rishadan port. Its also a nice generator of virtual CA as long as we have a ton of WoG's in our deck.
Eldariel, probabbly those who like winning against rw (always), jund (unless they get a really crazy number of blightnings) and vampires (esp. postboard).
upd: didn't see your last comment. i get your point but i don't really think uw has so much advantage over this novadays. as for me all those counters are just awful, so the real decision is between emeria and card draw. and my casual nature prefers the first one :3

by Spyx on 2009-10-27 06:03 EDT

The deck really needs the o rings to deal with planeswalkers. How good is emeria though? You could run kabira crossroads if you don't play it.

by meoni on 2009-10-27 07:39 EDT

i have won in final of effect of jace beleren.. i have mill 20 cards.. 2 times effect.. jace with negate-cancell for 3 oppnent's o ring.. so gg..
i have played vs 3 jund aggro.. i think that jund aggro is the most competitive deck.. but it has a BIIIG problem.. sphinx of jawre isle at 6 turn and this is gg..=)

by Arkham on 2009-10-27 09:23 EDT

I've been playing a deck like ykpon one since zendikar appeared. The only problem you can find is someone who doesn't play creatures and play control (like this final) and a bad hand. Only. Emeria is good for mirrors and for others.... You can have an inmortal baneslayer. And it is easy to have 7 plains in this deck.

by Manu90 on 2009-10-27 09:32 EDT

go go Meoni go !!!!!

by Rath on 2009-10-27 09:38 EDT

Is Magosi not good in the winning decklist? I've been playing 1 in my UWR list, however, haven't got any good testing with it.

by wilier on 2009-10-27 10:02 EDT

@ Fow someone who tested the deck and knows that they are pretty decent there.

Nice cancels lol

by Markwerf on 2009-10-27 10:39 EDT

the white control should play celestial purge main over pitfall trap. Purge is great against the top decks and the decks where it is dead against, so is pitfall trap.
Totally agree with eldariel though, UW is just way better then monoW. MonoW is just short of playables so it resorts to stuff like luminarch ascension and armillary sphere main while with blue added you can play much better stuff in its place. The emeria engine is not really special anyway, many decks run path so you wont be retrieving your angel. Jund doesnt run path but getting up to 8 land vs blightning is hard and they can side in a few ruinblasters or thought hemorrhage to totally screw up the engine.

by Bacur on 2009-10-27 12:00 EDT

Lost to ykpon in quarts, and that was terribad.
Oh man, i can't even say "at least i lost to teh winner". My deck is awfull, dnt try to copy it!
Joke xd Just put some Bloodwitches(3) and maybe O-Rings sb. Oh and spit into ruinblaster players faces, they will discard it to offensive charm or blightning tyring to save their BBelves till turn 4.

Trial was kinds wierd, so much decks designed to beat jund and jund finished 3rd.
Good Job anyway, thaks ML.

by Lat[GRC] on 2009-10-27 12:28 EDT

Erm... and so many Jund...

by Markwerf on 2009-10-27 12:38 EDT

5c cascade is strong if the mana starts working. The 'combo' of playing/cascading all discard and then play or cascade into a baneslayer is strong. Not being able to affect the board before turn 4 at all seems less good though, i'd go with something like sprouting thrinax or rhox war monk main for sure. Gives a good road block or forces them to use path giving you access to turn 4 baneslayer.

by 2und40 on 2009-10-27 13:00 EDT

Now, more then the time faeries was legal it i'snt to important to affect the board the first 3 turns. You will crash your opponents hand, before he could realy put pressure on you. After that your cascade spells will overwhelm them with an incredible CA. Baneslayer doesn't die to often in this Deck because of all the discard. Seems pretty solid to me.
Not affecting the board only becomes relevant against fast Decks, that are able to kill you on turn 4 or so. For that you've got the RWM's and Bolts in your SB.

by metzel_usa on 2009-10-27 13:14 EDT

look at all the x-0 5c cascades!

by TaKK on 2009-10-27 16:34 EDT

LOL 3 CANCEL SO BROKEN

by xMechaShivax on 2009-10-27 17:26 EDT

Wow, Malikar Bloodwitch would have a field day with those top 2 decks

by ChristPunchr on 2009-10-27 18:17 EDT

Is Ascension really that good? I have yet to try it, but it seems pretty inconsistant.
With how many turns it can take to get activated, I don't see it as amazing against aggro despite removal(read: two mana+waiting four or more turns for a 4/4). I'm sure in control matchups it can be a beast though.

Again, I haven't tested it, so that's just initial thoughts.

by meoni on 2009-10-27 18:49 EDT

i play cancell beacuse there isn't a better counter.. -.-' !! at 3 mana is the only playable.. 4 mana mindbreack wooooow-.- .. and cancel enter perfeclty in mana curve.. but ok.. me 2 think that is the most bad counter of my deck -.-

by Eldariel on 2009-10-27 20:29 EDT

Malakir Bloodwitch dies or "dies" to Cancel, Day of Judgment, Essence Scatter & Sphinx of Jwar Isle; I don't see the winning list having trouble with her.

by wilier on 2009-10-28 10:07 EDT

"there isn't a better counter" u already said it, so dont play counters lol.

anyway u win, soo it works lol.

by meoni on 2009-10-28 20:04 EDT

control winnerd deck has counter.. if i dont play counter, it isn't control !XD and i loooooove control the game=) so i win.
