For people who will ask, eldrazi monument is because I made the deck 10 minutes before trial and didn't found any card to put in SB instead of...

by Lynolf on 2009-10-09 18:20 EDT

Seriously, who had the stupid idea of making a Zendikar Block Trial?

by CMA-Flippi on 2009-10-09 19:15 EDT

It was me!
But don't think that format is irrelevant!

Starting with next week, Germany hold National league tournaments in Team Trios. One of those formats is Block Constructed.

I think it is awesome. I love when we get a sneak peek of the future here on M-L.

No Teetering Peaks? For shame, Kaesh! Totally better than Spire Barrage. Too bad Block Burn sucks; RDW really has trouble killing creatures, which is just wrong.

Also, Bah @ Vampires. Though 4xOb Nixilis is all kinds of cool.

by Grominou on 2009-10-10 05:02 EDT

PS : I seek a team for the master

by Kaesh on 2009-10-10 08:58 EDT

Spire Barrage is great. RDW is good, the goal of the game is killing players, not killing creatures.

by DS_McWerp on 2009-10-10 09:57 EDT

I was really surprised at how nasty kaesh's rdw was. It raped me. He finished me with spire both games....

by Eldariel on 2009-10-10 14:35 EDT

Seems like Sligh to me. But yeah, the goal is to kill players, of course; just, it tends to help to clear the board so your creatures can swing through. That's why I've always been a fan of 20/20/20.

As for Peaks; have you tested how badly they intervene with Barrage? Could be you'd want to play both, given you generally get the damage from Peaks out you're losing in Barrage later.

by Kaesh on 2009-10-10 15:36 EDT

I have obviously not tested a single game with the deck.

by Deuce on 2009-10-10 17:35 EDT

Hmm.. Did you think about Ruinous Minotaur?

by Kaesh on 2009-10-10 19:52 EDT

Yes, and I realised Drinker of Sorrow wasn't good on the first time around and it still isn't good.

God that Drinker of Sorrow comment is all kinds of wrong.
First of all, Ruinous Minotaur CAN block, and does so VERY well, if there's a stall and you're staying alive until you can topdeck a barrage or whatnot for the kill. Also, it can block or trade with a creature with NO drawback, unlike Drinker.
Perhaps most relevant, it's RED. Low mana, high power creatures with drawbacks are red's lifeblood, and are way better there than in black.
Not saying Minotaur is right for that deck, but just saying dismissing it through analogy is really dumb.

by Kaesh on 2009-10-11 08:48 EDT

Ruinous Minotaur can't block very well, a result of it's toughness being 2, which is pretty bad for 3 mana and no combat abilities - it doesn't stall anything and dies to everything.
3 mana without haste isn't "low mana" to me, and certainly aggressive creatures with drawbacks are no less black than red.

by jonproject on 2009-10-15 17:23 EDT

I'm not sure why Malakir Bloodwitch would be better than Ob Nixilis in that Esper Control build. It looks like it could use 1-2 Ob's as a finisher.

let me guess bloodghast hosed the control deck. oh and mindsludge was just icing on the cake?
