I not understand this combo
=[

by SaTiVa on 2009-09-30 01:03 CET

my deck is horrible i made it in like 5 mins ... combo is 1 card u play scapeshift when u have 7 + lands out then u get valakut and 6 x mountains and bam thats 18 damage should kill if not sac 8 and get 2nd Valakut and bam 36

by Qamiqaze420 on 2009-09-30 01:20 CET

or in sjeps' version, you can also scapeshift out a dark depths and hexmage it into marit lage.

by kfcman on 2009-09-30 01:29 CET

Unless I'm totally missing something, what if the deck doesn't have enough mountains left in it to do the damage?

Like sjeps deck only has 6 total mountains. He has Dark Depths + Vampire Hexmage, but that play is cold to any bounce spell.

by wiltstorm on 2009-09-30 01:51 CET

im surprised that this combo made 2 out the top4....

Also i saw that some1 who went 1-1 4got they couldnt use forgotten caves lol

Good Job SATIVAAA

@ Pikanso: you get 6+ lands in play, cast Scapeshift, then fetch Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle plus some number of mountains and deal 3 at will.

Sjeps' deck can alternatively combo with Dark Depths + Vampire Hexmage.

I like this deck, I think it's rather spiffy.

by ChuckNorris on 2009-09-30 04:01 CET

I'm sorry, but that combo is such complete trash.

by Conkisstador on 2009-09-30 05:12 CET

the BG version is misbuilt with only 6 mountains. hexmage -dark depths is a much stronger interaction.

i like the top deck but each other one seems misbuilt.
1 valakut would always be enough. need 8 mountains in deck.

the truth is- these decks assuredly made it to top4 by playing opponents who didnt realize what was happening and then they lost. knowledge is half the battle-

hexmage is a good card by itself. adding a land that can just win is much betetr than relying on drawing a single card.

by Arkham on 2009-09-30 05:26 CET

Sativa, what did i tell you??? You were going to do top. I was surprised against him and when he played Scapeshift my face turned into other in the second game... Against me, he played very very intelligent his deck. ChuckNorris, when you have a pact of negation, a a remand, and your opponent plays all with boseiju, you cant do anything. I'm sure because i suffered it.

by corbox on 2009-09-30 07:07 CET

Scapeshift combo ?? Interesting to see a deck completely thrashed by a single trickbind ... Anyway we must admit this is quite of inventive !

by PenguinSlave on 2009-09-30 07:39 CET

very nice

by sjeps on 2009-09-30 10:31 CET

i think my deck is pretty decent since it's very flexible

i can cast a 20/20 indestructive flier and win by turn 4 if the oppo doesn't exile it (i have duress for that)

otherwise i can go control and finish the oppo with scapeshift

vs counter is solid cause when i have 8 lands (Boseju) scapeshift into victory

if needed it can turn aggro with kitchens and my beloved spike feeders (nerfed from m10 rules XD)

Only big problem i encountered is the winner deck:
aggro-control with fatties. He discarded my damnation twice and he got 4 exiles and 4 charms, so was hard job to me to duress them to my main combo.
Also on third game he casted that fu**ing Gaddok destroying my scapeshift combo (and i didnt draw putrefy to kill it, only damnation)

anyway i scored 1-2 against him, not bad.. maybe with sideboard...

by Duodax on 2009-09-30 11:02 CET

There is always greater /power/ failure
Cruel Ultimatum, MtG

*netdecked Capo´s deck, it´s great*

by sjeps on 2009-09-30 11:07 CET

answering kfcman you need only 3 mountains in the deck to kill the opponent.
you just have to play the ones you draw, the scapeshift damage will be less, but usually more than enough

with 3 left in deck and 3 on the table you will do 3*3*2=18 dmg that can kill guys who have fetched or have been damaged by kitchen

of course if one gets destroyed you're screwd. anyway you could add mountains to deck, trading that for worse mana base

if you were wondering i named the deck "dc" (dual combo, also the initials of an italian political party :D)

by -DK- on 2009-09-30 11:41 CET

add the new green cipt rare land from zen to make finks infi in the gb hexscape deck

by sjeps on 2009-09-30 12:08 CET

you mean oran-rief? i'll try it, ty for suggestion.

btw, i like the name hexscape!!

ok renamed :D

by Shagrath on 2009-09-30 13:49 CET

"4-color Bant"... nice name lol.

by HPB_Eggo on 2009-09-30 14:33 CET

Is there a reason these Scapeshift decks aren't running Prismatic Omen? It seems like making every land you play a mountain would be pretty strong...

Also, Magosi and Rings makes a nice alt-win with something like Bloodghast if you work it in properly.

by SaTiVa on 2009-09-30 14:39 CET

1 Vala is not always enough as multiple ppl tried to gain little bits of life .. guess they didnt know i could deal them 36 with 1 more land... even killed a person with 20+ life and a martyr of sands in play

by mikulas on 2009-09-30 15:11 CET

Good Job Stein!! Congrats! ;)

by prometheus on 2009-09-30 16:15 CET

The depths/valakut deck does have exactly enough mountains to win... if you get both valakuts. As long as ghost quarter and stone rain aren't seeing play, then 6 mtn/2 valakut is the right number.

Though sjeps- did you ever get caught with a mountain in your hand when you needed to scapeshift?

by sjeps on 2009-09-30 18:11 CET

i try to play them asap if i draw them. and of course they arent useless since are also green or black.

by turn 8 usually i don't have any more lands in hand (surely not mountains)

the only way that COULD happen is drawing 2 mountains with pxyrexian arena, but then you should stop playing card games and go play chess :D

anyway the official name of the deck is hexscape!! (thanks to -DK-) :D

by Shooter on 2009-09-30 18:39 CET

lolnobob

by Conkisstador on 2009-09-30 18:56 CET

1 valakut and 8 mountains is 1 more land total but 1 less dead land (val). the 8 mountains tap for colors. 7 land scapeshift is enough

by Shooter on 2009-09-30 19:36 CET

valakut taps for red :(

by fortuna on 2009-09-30 20:20 CET

Scapeshift does not lose against trickbind, it just deals 3 less

by metzel_usa on 2009-09-30 21:29 CET

At least the good list hasnt leaked yet :/ kind of missing a color but whatever

by TaKK on 2009-09-30 22:01 CET

Yeah these Scapeshift lists are pretty bad...

by on 2009-10-01 08:37 CET

the absolute worst.

by Mr_DoomZ on 2009-10-02 16:44 CET

Grats Sjeps! we had an extremely close game I didnt see the scapeshift win anywhere on my radar >_< Spectacular combo!

by sjeps on 2009-10-02 19:04 CET

ty, i agree it was a great game, i hope we'll play again

by gmoney on 2009-10-03 11:00 CET

btw hexmage can block stack first strike and then sac
