congrats on top eighting omar!

by el_focker on 2009-06-29 13:19 EDT

Hm.... Where did elfandor get his deck list? Whoever designed that deck must be an f***ing genius! :)

by el_focker on 2009-06-29 13:53 EDT

I'm sure I'm going to seem cocky here, but I want credit when credit is due... I congratulated two members of blitzkreig and they denied that I designed elfandors list.

http://www.magic-league.com/tournament/info.php?id=51874&view=decks 5/9 This was the first time i played the deck, its obviously untuned.

http://www.magic-league.com/tournament/info.php?id=52088&view=decks 5/23 THis is closer to the final list

http://www.magic-league.com/tournament/info.php?id=52354&view=decks
6/6 There you have the final list.. card for card the exact maindeck that elfandor played to win the master.

I challenge anyone to find anyone who played this list before me.

Now, I know Chapin deserved credit for the initial design of 5cb and I designed this list when he first posted it on starcity. My deck simply evolved in a different direction than other 5cb decks and is more controlling.

Im not saying my deck is the greatest ever or that winning a ml master is some epic accomplishment... I just want credit where credit is due.

^ Here's your e-cookie.

Nah, but seriously, cool deck. I really like the list.

Congratulations to everyone in the t8!

by badasssmurf on 2009-06-29 14:10 EDT

actually his has 4x Mystic Gate and yours had 3x Mystic Gate and 1x Flooded Grove.. lol. congrats to everyone in the top8

by MrBrett on 2009-06-29 14:14 EDT

nice faeries deck, would you do any tweaking to it, or is it already finetuned? thanks

by CB on 2009-06-29 15:24 EDT

DARKING,
Why Fae Macab? Is it really for anathemancer? I haven't found him to really be a problem. Was Oona's grace actually good? Why terror over Agony Warp?

I do not claim that you are wrong for your choices by any means, I am just curious to hear your reasoning.

by DARKING on 2009-06-29 15:52 EDT

Faerie Macabre was versus Anathemancer, and also against Reveillark. It does help.
Originally, I ran Jace in the deck, but a 3 mana sorcery speed card drawing engine was slow. More than not it ended up dead not many turns later. In my search for instant card drawing I ended up finding Oona's Grace. It may be not the best draw spell there is, but that is what I ran, and it worked fine. With 25 lands you will Retrace it a few times, specially when you're land flooded.
I ran Terror because of two things: 1B is easier to cast than UB (and yes, I have found myself in the situation where I can't afford UB), but more importantly, it allows me to kill Wilt-Leaf Liege, Cloudthresser and any other random fattie they throw at me.

by MikeL123 on 2009-06-29 15:53 EDT

Wow, el_focker, where did you get the idea to use Bloodbraid Elf in a Type 2 deck? Better keep that tech quiet, or next thing you know, everyone's going to be running it.

by ricklee2705 on 2009-06-29 16:39 EDT

el_focker(since you are a proclaimed genius)

can i ask you why is the SB contain 4 Hindering Light? which make almost no sense because you can't cascade it out and that card have not much utility.

by el_focker on 2009-06-29 17:38 EDT

I played a different sb.... I have no idea why they play 4 hindering light. I mean, I'm in magic league all of the time, elfandor or his teammates could have simply PMed me if they had questions about sideboarding. (instead of talking trash to me then copying my deck)

MikeL123, you seem to be missing the point. I seriously doubt that elfandor came up with the same deck as me CARD FOR CARD independently. Saying that the deck isnt my design just because it has bloodbraid elf doesnt make sense. Under that logic, I should deserve credit for swans, because I played bb elf in a deck before cascade swans came out.

by Berzerker on 2009-06-29 18:15 EDT

Did anyone play blightning? I mean at GP Seattle my only losses with blightning were to swans, round 4, and lost game 2 and 3 in round 6 to Mono G elves because he got a turn three Oversoul both those games. I mean Blightning just doesn't lose to 5 color and has good odds against most of the top 8 here, my guess is there might have been a couple in the top 16.

by Alvaro21k on 2009-06-29 20:16 EDT

GOGOGO Omar, congrats!

by Smut on 2009-06-29 22:58 EDT

if you only lost 2 matches in all of gp seattle, and neither were in the top 8, you would have won...

by CB on 2009-06-30 01:57 EDT

I'm with smut here, did you mean on day 1?

by Berzerker on 2009-07-03 04:56 EDT

I dropped because I was sick, I wish I had been feeling better, I might have made day 2

by IberianWolf on 2009-07-04 21:26 EDT

el_focker, who cares? people take other people's decks all the time. it doesn't really matter who designed it, even pros use decks that they didn't design, and sometimes they don't even tweak them (which happened here). you didn't win it, did you? then don't ask for bragging rights of any kind.

just feel good that one of "your" decks won it and stay quiet. I don't see the dude that invented dragonstorm come here and claim "credit" where it's due. someone used your deck and won, ok. whatever. do you want a medal or something?
