woot tower above

by RavensEffect on 2009-04-26 09:01 EST

It just goes to show how small this trial really was by the quality of the top decks. Faeries stopped using Scion a long time ago, and what is the point of one Agony Warp? Tower Above? C'mon, Lolo...Blightning would probably have won, if it would have had four of the spell, anyway.

by Flaxh on 2009-04-26 09:54 EST

"Faeries stopped using Scion a long time ago, and what is the point of one Agony Warp?"

I LOLED!

Anyway, .pt once again in the top3, gj.

by GilardiNo on 2009-04-26 10:03 EST

New Faeries lists use Ringskipper instead Scion of Oona now just because their clash ability..

And that sideboard sux Flaxh, you should use Zephyr Net.. it's removal !!!!

by TugaChampion on 2009-04-26 10:49 EST

OMG RavensEffect. Please change your name to NoobsEffect or better yet BrainfartsEffect! Faeries without scion make your match up against the mirror much worse as well as aggro becoming more dificult. The only popular decks that you face and you don't want scion it's monored/blightning and 5cc. monored/blightning is very hard with or without scion and 5cc is still favourable with scion. Please do some actual testing before talking crap.

BTW gratz Flaxh and once again PORTUGAL>>>>>>>>>m-l

by wilier on 2009-04-26 11:59 EST

I lost for the first. liege » blightning :b
Anyway, gogogo flaxh

by RavensEffect on 2009-04-26 12:23 EST

Yeah okay TugaChampion, you're a freaking moron. Look at the latest REAL tournaments around the area on Magic, no one is using Scion anymore because it's plain weak in today's meta. It loses to Infest, volcanic fallout, Cloudthresher, pretty much everything and anything in today's meta. The only thing it might still be good against is other Faerie decks, I guess, but there isn't enough around to worry about it. And about testing, who the hell hasn't tested Faeries? C'mon, I've been hitting top 8 in trials recently, I'm not a noob, so shut the hell up before you talk crap...or something like that. Lolo

by GFSS on 2009-04-26 12:38 EST

gj flaxh !

by Shooter on 2009-04-26 12:45 EST

By REAL he means his FNM ofc

by onecleanceli on 2009-04-26 13:06 EST

am i missing something or is the zephyr net comment sarcasm?

by TugaChampion on 2009-04-26 13:07 EST

Not playing scion because of fallout is a mistake but it actually makes sense. Because of Cloudthresher doesn't make much sense because it was always around since lorwyn was printed. But not playing it because of infest? LOL I wish everyone sided in infest against faeries!

by TugaChampion on 2009-04-26 13:33 EST

and WOW you've been top8ing m-l trials! You say that like it's a good thing but the top3 sucks. If the top3 sucks than top8ing shouldn't make you think you're not a noob. And I play faeries in MTGO and all mirror matches I have played ALL of them had scions.

yes onecleanceli it's obv sarcasm.

by apocchime on 2009-04-26 13:58 EST

"C'mon, I've been hitting top 8 in trials recently, I'm not a noob, so shut the hell up before you talk crap...or something like that."

Hitting T8 in M-L trials, watch out honolulu ravenseffect is gunnin for ya

by ZW on 2009-04-26 14:15 EST

Scion isn't as important as it once was. However, it's incredibly good in the mirror and versus tokens. It's only worse because of fallout, however, you should beat 5cc pretty easily anyway and you lose to blightning scion or no scion; scion actually makes the blightning matchup better though.

by RavensEffect on 2009-04-26 15:25 EST

Real life as in the Kyoto Standard pro tour in which the only Faerie deck that made top 8 didn't use Scion of Oona. That is the only pro tour so far this year for T2 to my knowledge, and I gave the reasons why Scion is no longer useful, so instead of posting hate just to post, think about what you're saying first.

I've also played in Prereleases(and went 4-0 at Lorwyn/Morningtide), and also regular events, but I'm not going to Honolulu because I live in Pennsylvania.

by Shagrath on 2009-04-26 15:29 EST

Wow, really? U should write a book about your skills.

by Flaxh on 2009-04-26 15:30 EST

Imo, this deserves to be on ML's Hall of SHame:

"I've also played in Prereleases(and went 4-0 at Lorwyn/Morningtide)"

As apocchime said, f**k Honolulu, prereleases are the nutz!

Scion is just as important in the faeries deck as it ever was; however, due to fallout, it isn't good in some matchups, so that's why people run 15 extra cards called Sideboard.

by TugaChampion on 2009-04-26 15:42 EST

OMG ProsEffect went 4-0 at lorwyn/mornintide prereleases! And he top8s m-l trials! WHAT A MASTER!!!

Anyways... you say we don't give reasons why scion is good? Yet you say one of the reasons for not playing scion is infest...

by Dreamswept on 2009-04-26 15:42 EST

"but I'm not going to Honolulu because I live in Pennsylvania."

Pretty sure a better reason is that you're a dumbshit retard who doesn't know what they're talking about with a 1600 constructed rating. I'd say the same for your limited, but it's probably 1640ish cuz YOU 4-0'D A PRERELEASE!!!!

Seriously, you have no more right to talk after you mentioned Scion dying to infest. That's like saying "Glen Elendra Archmage is bad cuz it doesn't persist through relic of progenitus".

by RavensEffect on 2009-04-26 16:44 EST

Yeah, thats totally a better reason. You're calling me a dumbshit retard but you write a statement like you're twelve years old. And no, my constructed rating isn't 1600, but I'm sure yours is alot worse, that is if you've even played magic anywhere other than on magic-league. And I said Volcanic Fallout and Cloudthresher too, not just Infest. Anyway, I'm done with this shit, I'll see you guys tomorrow in the trial. =)

by Kenseiden on 2009-04-26 17:50 EST

I run 4 Scions in faeries. Maybe its just a matter of prefferences. I like it because it (helps) turns your control deck in a agro deck, protects your Sowers, doubles the size of the tokens, 2x Scions make some matches impossible to lose, and so on.

I understand why people don't like it.

Everytime I come herer I see these stupid fights (most of then including TugaChampion). Don't you have anything else to do? Don't try to justyfy yourself showing your gaming results. Really, that doesn't work for most pleople.

It doesn't matter if you won every limited event you've ever faced if we are talking about CONSTRUCTED! (Thats even worse!)

Please lets have a more constructive discussion. and behavior.

by RavensEffect on 2009-04-26 18:48 EST

Yeah, thats why I said I'm done, everytime I'm on the chatroom or giving someone constructive criticism like I was at the beginning of this post, TugaChampion is always there to start a fight about it and say that the person is wrong and he's right.

I might have sounded like I don't like Scion of Oona, that really isn't the case because I used to play Faeries all the time and loved the card, as it obviously is very good when it comes into play and helps all the rest of the creatures. But with all the mass burn/removal, I was just saying he can sometimes not be good in today's meta.

The only reason I mentioned the prerelease/pro events I went to was because a few people were whining about me talking about getting top 2/top 8/top 8 in consecutive trials here, so I was just mentioning that I play in real life too. Either way, Faeries is still a great deck even now, with or without Scion. Probably should have gotten first place on this too, lol.

by TugaChampion on 2009-04-26 18:52 EST

BarnEffect: you said fallout and thresher too and I already talked about those 2 but just mentioning infest clearly shows your lack of understanding of this game.

Kenseiden:

1st: what is "herer"?

2nd: what is "justyfy"?

3rd: wash your mouth before talking about the great TuGodChampion.

4th: it's "most of THEM" not "then".

5th: He came here acting like he was an expert and said something really stupid. And than he backed up with his FANTASTIC results. I didn't even mention any results of mine.

by RavensEffect on 2009-04-26 18:59 EST

TuGODChampion? Damn, I thought Dave Slusher was the most annoying and lame person on Magic-League, maybe you are him with another screenname? Did you ever actually have any constructive criticism for this trial? No, you just came on here to run your mouth, but I think we're all sick and tired of hearing it.

by Flaxh on 2009-04-26 19:04 EST

I rather watch TugayChampion trolling than you saying this:

"Faeries stopped using Scion a long time ago, and what is the point of one Agony Warp?"

Let's stop this discussion please.

by TugaChampion on 2009-04-26 19:09 EST

No, I'm not Dave Slusher. I've seen that name in the league chat though. My constructive criticism was trying to make you realize the amount of shit you were saying.

"Anyway, I'm done with this shit, I'll see you guys tomorrow in the trial. =)"

"Yeah, thats why I said I'm done"

I thought you were "done with this shit". Why are you still posting?

by CB on 2009-04-26 19:12 EST

Hey, could we just get PV to come in and comment on the validity of scion in standard at this point? HA HA. Whenever he makes a comment, nobody argues against him so... that would probably end this blown-up argument.

...In my opinion scion is still essential to fae. I tested with and without scion in multiple builds extensively and I am a firm believer that scion is the correct call. Fallout is definitely rough for scion (and BB and Spellstutter etc), however, it is still extremely powerful. The bottom line is (in my opinion): that fallout makes scion faeries a bit harder to play but not actually much worse. So, event though the environment is more hostile toward scion, a card that can bring up your win percentage against tokens as much as scion is too good to cut imo. Especially since many of the matchups that have fallout, only have it after board. This means that your cards that are really weak against it are boarded out by the time that you have to play against it anyway. After board it is much easier to play around it too as you have some, or more, (depending on your build) vendilion cliques, etc. And even though 5cc plays them main, you should beat 5cc anyway.

by PV on 2009-04-26 19:26 EST

Ravens, I suggest you read LSV's latest article on faeries, where he says something like "at first I didn't want scions, because of fallout, but then I re-read some of PV's articles and he had convincing arguments about them, so I tried and the matchup against the mirror, bw and rw have really improved, so now I play four".

So, yeah, not everyone is "not playing scions" ;)

by CB on 2009-04-26 19:35 EST

PV, Thank you.

by Kenseiden on 2009-04-26 19:35 EST

sorry fot the misstyping, folks. It happens to most of you, don't it?

TugaTheMoron, if you feel thats the best argument to attack me (my typing errors), I think you should take a better look on what you are doing here. Thats. Really. Pointless.

Anyway, for those of you who might care, I don't have a solid position about Faeries recently. I mean, I'm not into talking about 'Scion or not', because Faeries is not an option for me anymore. My friend Shooter (and PV) would disagree entirely about that, since they propably think that Faeries is one of the best decks, if simply not the their very first option.

I had very positive results piloting Faeries pre Alara, but, like another player I respect said, Faeries is getting worse and worse each time an expansion is released. Tier 2, maybe?

Anyway, it calls my attention those 2 Tower Aboves in Drak Bant. Me liked. A lot.

Kenseidenoob: look at points 3rd and 5th.

"3rd: wash your mouth before talking about the great TuGodChampion."

"5th: He came here acting like he was an expert and said something really stupid. And than he backed up with his FANTASTIC results. I didn't even mention any results of mine."

You're the moron here. I already told you to wash your mouth before talking about the great TuGodChampion. And I wasn't the one who brought my own results here. It was that RandomsEffect.

Now just STFU because all you're saying is crap.

And btw now you double posted. What a fail.

hekilio: once again your mom doesn't think so.

Madstrike: I'm not 7 or else hekilio's mom would be in trouble. I could make smart comments but when I make those explainning my points no one understands (because 99% of the league is just stupid), so I prefer commenting in a way everyone understands.
