i think it's just better then isamaru,and I don't like fanatics...

tink: xiko was being ironic...

by MistyFatDog on 2008-10-15 09:23 EDT

what ever happened to affinity?

by Ronnan on 2008-10-15 11:33 EDT

if u dont play shackles u could as well play flooded groove

by curly on 2008-10-15 12:28 EDT

wow..this is weird....no affinty, or RDW? yay!!!!

by Eldariel on 2008-10-15 14:22 EDT

I'm more "Yay!" about the fact that there are only 12 Tarmogoyfs in the Top 4. That includes one green deck WITHOUT Tarmogoyf!

by TugaChampion on 2008-10-15 14:33 EDT

It's so unfair. First it's all about tarmogoyf then people stop playing it in T2 and know even in extended not all decks play him.

by Poopsack2 on 2008-10-15 15:53 EDT

Admittedly, I hadn't played a game with the deck. I didn't even build it.
http://www.starcitygames.com/php/news/article/16520.html

I saw the Trial was forming and there was 10 mins left. I saw this deck and made a pretty bad sb(never sided in teeg or KoALaw). Guess it worked though.

by Tewl on 2008-10-15 17:11 EDT

why would u run engineered explosives in the elf deck

by Shooter on 2008-10-15 17:30 EDT

chalice of the void

I think its actually called being sarcastic >_<

by Duodax on 2008-10-15 17:54 EDT

Isn´t Boreal Druid not better than the Slasher in the Elfdeck??

by Yatre on 2008-10-15 19:23 EDT

:O nevermind i just saw it

by rdeg87 on 2008-10-16 07:05 EDT

Duodax, I thought that too. But apparently you need the Slasher against Demigod Stompy.
Think I'd still prefer the Druid though

by Duodax on 2008-10-16 08:38 EDT

why Demigod Stompy? U really want to stop the R/G Colossus?

by KeySam on 2008-10-16 10:01 EDT

The demigod stompy comment wasnt realy serious guys, although it is also true its not bad against that deck. The real reason why twinblade slasher is better then boreal is, you dont need colorless mana often in that deck and slasher can swing pretty hard and screw up blocks from bigger creatures. In the combo turn slasher makes no difference to boreal, before the combo turn there arent a lot of colorless mana you need him to, weird harvest and coat of arms thats about it(wirewood hivemaster to an smaller extend).

by mrwegle on 2008-10-16 11:14 EDT

KeySam
Why u play Engineered Explosives? Maybe Seal of Primordium is better? Or u use E E vs zoo too?

by Lynolf on 2008-10-16 11:47 EDT

Can you explain exactly the "Elf-Combo"? And how fast is the deck? I haven't quite get it yet :P Altough it looks pretty cool.

by Duodax on 2008-10-16 12:12 EDT

Ok, the deck is INSANE. It will be Meta if no one puts at least 4 Clasms in Board...
The list is not optimal btw..
YOU MUST PLAY 4 Summon Pacts... just crazy...
You have 2 Sentinels and Heritage on board. Then Each elf gives you 3 mana, bit usually costs 1-2 mana.. with glimpse you kill given this case...

by KeySam on 2008-10-16 13:30 EDT

explosives are the best against challice, because the deck that plays challice is tron(there may be some others but its basicly tron), againt them explosives is almost uncountarable(both counters they play are very ineffectiv againt explosives(redmand and the scry counter). Btw in testing we found out chord of calling is better then summoners pact.

combo is basicly glimpse to draw your deck and kill the opponent. Other stuff like turn 3 coat of ars is also solid. Weird harvest ties the deck together because you can set up your mana engine(hertige/nettle) and get the regal force to draw a bunch of cards. The gameplan depends from mu to mu.

ROFLMFAO ELFBALL MADE IT IN EXTENDED

*cant stop laughing*

by Duodax on 2008-10-16 13:55 EDT

ROFL???
Pact sets up the combo and tutors for reagal force and the chord cost at least 4 or you need untapped creas on board...

by ajvanadri on 2008-10-16 14:01 EDT

more that the fact is I designed elf ball for standard last standard season.......looks like its better then I thought

by metzel_usa on 2008-10-16 15:18 EDT

it wont be tier 1 so who cares...m-l trial yay

by KeySam on 2008-10-16 15:58 EDT

Duodax god bless you know it better from testing the deck a few hours... The reason why chord is better,if you care is that you most of the time you need to pay for pact anyway(only in the glimpse turn its better if you dont run into a blue deck). Pact may cost 4 mana(if you pay for pact it the same), but you save 1 mana because you dont need to pay the creature to hit play, you also can tap creatures instead of lands if you dont have bichlorid or hertiage, you can tap insect tokens that are usualy dead....

by Duodax on 2008-10-16 16:10 EDT

Man you need to fetch the friggin combo man...or you are screwed..And with Druid instead of the bad Slasher you are actually able to pay the 4 mana... if you dont´t hit the combo...
i use the tokens to run over my opponent or buying time vs. doran and zoo and such crap...

by mrwegle on 2008-10-16 16:29 EDT

KeySam thx for answer

by Duodax on 2008-10-16 17:03 EDT

explosives also stall in the mirror.

by KeySam on 2008-10-16 17:17 EDT

duodax: Once again if you need to pay for pact chord is a lot better and a lot less risky. Of course its good to stall the game with tokens and stuff thats why the card is in the deck. But again belive me chord is the rgiht option, as i tested pact i had 1 in the deck first and it screwed my up so often, chord on the other hand does the job very well, the only things i dont like about chord is gaddock teeg and its hard to fetch a regal force. But maybe you should try both like i did and then decide for youself before dismissing the card. and to druid to pay for pact, thats like sining your death if you realy intend to pay for pact. Trust me i tested the deck and druid isnt good enough, you often have him and a bunch of 1 drops on hand and cant do anything with the mana it gives you. Anyway it doesnt look like i can confince you, i can only tell you the impressions i got playing the deck and my reasons of card choices. If you look back and see how the deck started you will see a lot of the thngs you talked about actually in the deck and they got cut through testing. Although i agree that the list that won here isnt the newest version of the deck.

KeySam

by Acid_Christ on 2008-10-16 17:26 EDT

Slasher > Boreal

Chord > Pact

I could go through this but KeySam has explained everything. Twice. Listen to him, he has been testing this deck long before anyone thought of converting it.

by Duodax on 2008-10-16 17:30 EDT

LOL 1 pact? are u seriosly??? i played you version first then got crushed with pact in mirror then put 4 pacts in the deck..now its more stable...if opp taps out u combo if not you race symbiote+hivemaster (if there just were fyndhorn elves^^) but boreal is ok..
and when u are in the combo, if u draw a 2nd pact you just win by fetching sentinel... o-m-g

by Duodax on 2008-10-16 17:39 EDT

but can you post a good sideboard? take into consideration that you can an splash colors for sb cards... you know matchups better than me... and what is needed there
