Workshops...

by Lenin on 2008-06-15 10:56 MDT

aggro...

by warwizard87 on 2008-06-15 10:57 MDT

its the start of a new format workshops always jump out the gate when the format shifts, but as the format cools down they back off a bit more.

by jeebuzzx on 2008-06-15 11:08 MDT

how good is 3 Crucible of Worlds in the Painter's Grind deck?

by trueeevil on 2008-06-15 11:35 MDT

terrible

by Vecc on 2008-06-15 11:35 MDT

Faeries. Wat.

by Rahxephon on 2008-06-15 11:40 MDT

Then we will see a Workshop and Bazaar restriction soon??

Faeries. Wat.

you need to look at it as a control deck similar to land still, spellstuter acts as a hyper efficient counter and blossom is a huge win condition when standstill is out, since its damage is exponential instead of flat like a man land.

by Rahxephon on 2008-06-15 11:40 MDT

Then we will see a Workshop and Bazaar restriction soon??

i doubt it yes workshops are hugely populer, but as i said in a earlier post workshop come sout the gate fast, but cools once the meta-forms more clearly, it prays on decks that are untuned and have problems with its mana ramp + spheres.

bazaar i doubt only 1 deck utilizes it alot and that deck is easly hated out, even easier in t1 then in 1.x, although i can see it moving to mana ichorid to get around more of the hate, similer to 1.xs style but with a bit mor epower cards ( ie moxes, lotus, LED, bazaar.) why the guy who played ichorid did not run LED i don't know its 10 times better then the 2nd dragons breath.

Wish I could've made it. I've been playing angel pact a lot lately, and its only icky matchup is control slaver, which I have yet to see someone on M-L competently pilot.

This seems standard with what I've seen on M-L vintage: randomness, dredge, and shop decks. Not knocking the t4, just saying it's exactly what I expected.

It could be much worse. Good job, folks.

Oh, and warwizard, I'm pretty sure Rahxephon was making a merry jest regarding Wizards recent restrictions. Whimsical, no?

Edit: paged through them anyhoo...

Shop aggro 7
dredge 3
RG beats 2
UG fish: 1
Elfball 1
Dawn of the Dead 1
Illegal flash list 1
Confidant storm w/ top 1
Bomberman 1
Shop welder 1
Grim long 1
Deeznauts 1
Masknaut 1
Reanimator 1
Painter’s grind 1
Faeries 1
UW fish 1
Tog 1

Try getting that diversity in standard. Or block. Hah. Even if shop was 1/3 of the meta...

by warwizard87 on 2008-06-15 17:02 MDT

angel pact? i would like to see that.

yeah i noted the distinct lack of control slaver, in round 2 i thought my opponent was that, but he turned out to just be r/u shop which was disappointing.

no offense taken at the randomness comment, i kind of was gonna play straight up fairies as a joke, but the landstill shell kind of actually made it good ( yeah i was surprised last night when i went 5-1 on mws play to heh) With refining i think "stillbitter" could be tier 2 at least =]
I am gonna cut the vendilions they just underwhelmed me in testing and today. Most likely next test will be +2 skullclamp (how did i over look that ?)

Oh i did not think Rahxephon was being sarcastic....i can see that. A lot of people have been calling for their restriction for awhile so i pointed out why i doubted they would ever get the ax.

EDIT: the extreme lack of tendrils decks surprises me ALOT they are still really good especially drain tendrils.

LOL at illegal fish list HAH

by kfcman on 2008-06-15 17:49 MDT

I think that bitterstill has a better ring to it.

by Vecc on 2008-06-15 17:57 MDT

^ Definitely. :O

@warwizard87 - Yup yup, I know... I like the list, actually. It's only plain weird to see "Ub Faeries" on a Vintage T4. :B

by Conkisstador on 2008-06-15 18:09 MDT

it prays on decks that are untuned and have problems with its mana ramp + spheres.

i didnt know workshop was pious. i believe you are going for PREYS

workshop shoots out of the gates because its that good. i believe workshop will get restricted but not bazaar. workshop is black lotus every turn... im pretty sure thats busted

by Thorns on 2008-06-15 19:53 MDT

Workshop won't get banned until next year if anything. They unrestricted it not too long ago anyways.

by CalebD on 2008-06-15 19:58 MDT

I think wizards restricts enough crap to not have to worry about lands that only cast bad spells.

A whole deck full of artifacts that depends on nonbasic lands? How the devil are we supposed to meta around that? Wizards could've easily prevented this by providing us with cheap, playable artifact destruction in at least four of the five colors!

by Orlandu on 2008-06-15 23:46 MDT

Wasn't aware that workshop was ever restricted.. when was it?

LOL yeah wrong version of the word ;)

kfcman
bitterstill is good, official name change anyone??

by Creecha on 2008-06-16 17:14 MDT

Seems like the painter deck could benefit from a tinker.

by ZW on 2008-06-16 18:19 MDT

It has no way to produce blue mana besides 1 Tolarian Academy and one Mox Sapphire.

by gypsy on 2008-06-16 18:32 MDT

and black lotus

by flea on 2008-06-16 18:32 MDT

illegal flash list...nice. still, i bet it won a round or two before anyone noticed ;)

by Acid_Christ on 2008-06-16 21:04 MDT

What about Cloud of Faeries? I have a casual Faerie deck that runs of turn two Cloud supported by a Spellstutter.
