How was Oona's Blackguard?

I'm sorry but anything less than 4 Cryptic Commands doesn't feel right...

Is Pestermite truly worth the slot?

by YWNightmare on 2008-03-26 20:14 MDT

blackguard sukz...and 4 cryptic...im considering it...i made a new list after the trial... - 2 sower - 2 blackguard + 4 vendilion

thinking about -1 vendilion +1 command

pestermite is really good.

by TwoTrees on 2008-03-26 20:25 MDT

Go UG control
Gilt leaf ambush FTW

by R3wind on 2008-03-26 20:27 MDT

Looking at the UG control list makes me wonder why 2 Broken Ambition vs 2 Primal Command? Gilt-Leaf Ambush is also an interesting sideboard option.I would guess that it's like a mini one sided Wrath as a combat trick or EOT free beaters. Did anyone note the lack of Pithing Needle and Tormod's Crypt in the top three?

by Ivory_Master on 2008-03-26 20:30 MDT

Portugal >>> All

Go Go Go YWNightmare and Faeries.

P.S.: UG Control seems really bad...

by cmc on 2008-03-26 20:34 MDT

Husapi ftw

by mikeyk159 on 2008-03-26 21:03 MDT

yo norris, just kill yourself dude, seriously

by ChuckNorris on 2008-03-26 21:04 MDT

lol?

Rnd 1: beat revelark 2-0
Rnd 2: beat bg elves 2-1
Rnd 3: beat revelark 2-0
Rnd 4: beat mana ramp 2-0
Rnd 5: beat U/b teachings/sonic boom
Rnd 6: Bye
Rnd 7: lost to UB faeries 1-2. Game 3 came down to the wire, but it was a good one.

And why would I want Primal Command in this deck?

by YWNightmare on 2008-03-26 21:16 MDT

Chuck u forgot to say that game 1 i played 17 turns with 3 lands. xD

by ChuckNorris on 2008-03-26 21:22 MDT

yes this is true.

by Lantero on 2008-03-26 21:32 MDT

Blue is overpowered in Standar.

Better tribe, better cards. :/

by Richterk on 2008-03-26 21:40 MDT

No. Faeries are overpowered. In every format.

by DOminarian on 2008-03-26 22:54 MDT

ncreible faeries, faeries and more faeries...next time hurricane and squall lines 4 copies in each deck..im playin elves

by Pit42 on 2008-03-26 23:04 MDT

No. Norris is overpowered. In every format.

by mikeyk159 on 2008-03-26 23:20 MDT

hm... why would you want primal command, well, it tutors for cloudthresher

razormane masticore should be in the board, and is also a good tutor target, gains you 7, shuffles back your counterspells

need i say more you chuck bitch????

by Kulafreeze on 2008-03-26 23:28 MDT

Primal Command is good against RedBurn & Reveillark
Cloudthresher is good against faerie
Since RedBurn & Reveillark & faerie are the top three hot decks, green control can be a good meta deck~

by Circa on 2008-03-26 23:41 MDT

You'd HAVE to be Chuck Norris to win with that pile...

by curly on 2008-03-26 23:51 MDT

.. why play G/U control... G/U beats will beat it EVERY TIME also IF G/U control would be good it wouldent be with your pile chuck..i mean.. you play broken ambitions over primal command then question primals power in control against the standard meta... jeez i mean epic phail there chuck( i hope the real chuck norris dosent see this, if he does im very very sorry mister norris and i mean no offence) alsorazormane is better for the side in control, as is flashfreeze, both which should be played over gilt leaf. ahh ive had my rant of the day.

by Husapi on 2008-03-27 00:31 MDT

cmc

by tg on 2008-03-27 00:59 MDT

Chapin's Version obv... the UG Control seems horrible =[

by Holzi on 2008-03-27 02:45 MDT

Gratz Chucknorris

i tested the UG Control too ( the list from GP coverage... ) and it can beat nearly everything but not faeries :-(

by Eldariel on 2008-03-27 05:53 MDT

Blue has always been the best colour. If this is news to you, please go hang yourself. Fo' shame.

by KerZia on 2008-03-27 06:18 MDT

Go #portugal !!

Gratz to YWNightmare!
That UG deck sucks ballz :(

by gypsy on 2008-03-27 06:46 MDT

primal command is good but i dont see how its good in that deck, and primal command and broken ambitions do different things, why would he cut a card for something that is different. and why isnt there man lands in the ug deck

by Chico_Ze on 2008-03-27 06:51 MDT

Ban the island!

by Stucco on 2008-03-27 07:50 MDT

"Blue has always been the best color"

Lies! Not until Mirage-Tempest did blue have the tools to become the best color (despite the fact that FoW was released in Alliances). Before then it was black thanks to Necro, Sinkhole, Hymn,Dark Rit, Hippie, etc..

funky UG control deck... the faeries seem pretty standard.

by PV on 2008-03-27 09:36 MDT

I like that UG deck

Primal command looks awful in a deck with so many counters, it surprises me you are even suggesting it - the whole deck is instants and you want to add a 5 cc SORCERY!

by Richterk on 2008-03-27 09:57 MDT

Primal Command is much better than it is given credit for. And just so you know PV, that 5cc sorcery you're talking about gives MUCH more flexibility than that Xu cc pseudo-counter that you're saying is better in it's place.

So most type two tutors cost at LEAST four... This tutor not ONLY tutors for five, but lets you put their troll hammer on top of their library, or a land on top of their library, or lets you gain seven. That is the essence of control, my man. Backed up by the counters in the deck, PC becomes a powerhouse. That is the story of any deck. Sorceries have always been more powerful, but are obviously slower. The conclusion? Back them up with good instant-speed spells! Only when you have a good compliment of creatures, instants, sorceries, and lands do you have a truly solid deck (for the means of this post, we're including enchantments and artifacts in with sorceries).

So, yes. In a deck that is all instants, we would prefer Primal Command instead of a second rate counterspell.

by PV on 2008-03-27 10:38 MDT

You put their "troll hammer" (whatever that is) on top and then they play it again next turn and you cant do anything, cuz you are tapped out... or they play the card they've been waiting to play since the beginning of the game but cant cuz ur a blue counter deck and kill you with it

by sh0rty on 2008-03-27 10:41 MDT

broken ambitions, lol

by Trotsky1 on 2008-03-27 10:58 MDT

Rev owns any green deck even with cloudthresher and primal comand (perhasp not ug the counters could be a problem) But managing to win game 1 vs faeries is almost impossible on the play on game 2 it is possible but game 3 on the draw again unless they like mull too 5 or just draw all lands its really really hard.

by Conkisstador on 2008-03-27 11:10 MDT

faeries on the paly v anyone can sometimes just be an insurmountable feat. turn 1 vision. turn 2 blossom. turn 3 gives the following options:

pestermite to win the race
scion to own (2 for gg)
stutter as hard-counter

and the visions lets u keep it up all game.

by Conkisstador on 2008-03-27 11:18 MDT

o and 2 things:

Norris... did u ever get to do the super-secret-tek play of
"in resp, pop expanse. get a forest. trigger reach. paly reach. blokc!" ?
:-)

and lastly
5 Husapi 1859

by ChuckNorris on 2008-03-27 11:32 MDT

Yes Conkisstador, many times.

I'm glad PV and gypsy are here to be not-braindamaged. Richtek I guess enjoys trolling pros.

I never questioned primal command's power, I ran it in my fucking extended deck because it was the nuts in that format. It is, however, completely awful in this deck. It's not as if it's a WOG; unless it stabilizes the board in a big way for me there's no reason I should be tapping out during my turn with the deck. That's also why there's no man lands, to answer an earlier question.

I didn't even know there was a UG deck from the grand prix, and I doubt it looks anything like me.

Don't knock Broken Ambitions either. It's there to be another turn 2 counter because this format doesn't have all that many, and we can't afford to allow many spells to hit in the early game.

by center425 on 2008-03-27 12:01 MDT

O man, Reach of Branches is such a cool card. I like the deck.

by PV on 2008-03-27 12:07 MDT

isn't the fourth remove soul better than the second ambitions, though?

by ChuckNorris on 2008-03-27 12:09 MDT

I guess it could be, but I like versatility in counterspells. Comes down to personal preference I suppose. Remove soul doesn't counter turn 2 bitterblossom.

by rdeg87 on 2008-03-27 12:44 MDT

Cryptic Command 1UUU, Cloudthresher 2GGGG or 2GG
Did this mana base work out???

by ChuckNorris on 2008-03-27 13:18 MDT

It did actually. Expanse and Search for Tomorrow are good fixers, and i have 4 coasts. It gets there.

by ChristPunchr on 2008-03-27 14:31 MDT

Hmmm, I guess UG ctrl gets a wrath of sorts in running thresher because faeries are en vogue right now. Good meta call.

by Spliff on 2008-03-27 14:35 MDT

I like how YWNightmare is "considering" changing the deck like he made the list, this is chapins suggested list he posted on SCG

by YWNightmare on 2008-03-27 16:32 MDT

yeah spliff...its copy paste...i said i was gonna change the list cuz some cards suk...

did u ever see me say: "oh im such a genius i discovered UB faeries and made this great list but now has a few errors and im gona change it cuz ITS MY LIST...muahaha"

so i can't consider changing the list cuz the actual list is not mine?

dude..GG and now go suck on a lolipop.

by aldaryn on 2008-03-27 17:09 MDT

that chapin article was worthless...why do i pay for premium :/

usually he delivers the goods

by BloodyAngel on 2008-03-27 18:20 MDT

hey gimme ur username and password, i like those crappy articles XD

btw nice ug list, im gonna tamper it a little

by el_cuervito on 2008-03-27 18:31 MDT

HUSAPI!!!!!!! FTW!!!!!!!!!!!

by KrovikanMist on 2008-03-27 21:09 MDT

hey wheres Psionic Blast in Faeries???

whats wrong with it.

and where is vendillon clique??!!

by gypsy on 2008-03-27 21:51 MDT

blast sucks, and clique isnt that good in t2 right now

by KrovikanMist on 2008-03-28 00:11 MDT

blast gets rid of opposing mistbinds and charmelon colossuses...

and why isn't clique good in the current t2?

by aldaryn on 2008-03-28 05:23 MDT

blast might not be a good idea since you're already hitting yourself in the face with bitterblossom, but vendilion clique is extremely underrated in standard

by gypsy on 2008-03-28 07:37 MDT

i think clique is good but theres probably already enough 3 drops

by TwoTrees on 2008-03-28 10:29 MDT

I think the big issue for faeries right now is rune snag or no rune snag.

by gypsy on 2008-03-28 11:37 MDT

its between nameless inversion and rune snag for me, they usually do the same thing but at the same time they have different uses

by Mattallica35 on 2008-03-28 13:39 MDT

ChuckNorris, did you consider garruk in this deck? while tapping out turn 4 (3 post-board due to WoR), he provides additional pressure at the cost of 1 turn (also, there is no need to hurry him into play...any thoughts?

by aldaryn on 2008-03-28 13:40 MDT

3-drop is indeed clogged, but i think vendilion clique > pestermite by a long shot

rune snag vs. inversion is tough, but rune snag is much better vs. reveillark and mana ramp, worse vs. elves

by Husapi on 2008-03-28 14:50 MDT

d

by ChuckNorris on 2008-03-28 16:15 MDT

Mattallica:

That's a really interesting idea actually. Dropping him into play with 2cc counter backup seems decent. I'll toy with it.

by Husapi on 2008-03-28 21:25 MDT
