Elves build seems very suboptimal, but hey, whatever wins.

special thanks to sys_down for using my BG list :)

I needed to test it, but couldnt arrive on time for the trial :/

by _SM0KE_ on 2008-03-18 19:40 MDT

MGa winning proves the actual T2 is a shit

by hellangel on 2008-03-18 20:23 MDT

not really
mga was also winning exactly 1 year ago and nobody said the t2 was a shit

by Conkisstador on 2008-03-18 22:36 MDT

its actually an amazing call. how many wrath/damnation have been in recent top4s? barely any. i know something about double-lord tribes and doing well :-)
but obviously... U > G

by malreynolds on 2008-03-19 00:41 MDT

So, is that faeries list terrible or what?

by gypsy on 2008-03-19 03:10 MDT

are u terrible or what?

by Dakkon555 on 2008-03-19 08:44 MDT

wtf kinda elves is tht? :/

by MrBury on 2008-03-19 09:59 MDT

how did that BG tarmodeck lost to MGA??? lots of removals in that deck men

by Eldariel on 2008-03-19 10:01 MDT

So? Since when has removal been good against Elves? The two relevant threats (Chameleon Colossus, Garruk) are immune to GB's removal, and green doesn't have worthless crap that doesn't swing. Also, green has draw and GB doesn't. What advantages does GB even have?

by Mtgfanatic01 on 2008-03-19 10:43 MDT

Rofl Chameleon blur LOL!

by sys_down on 2008-03-19 14:08 MDT

I missed many land drops both games and of course lost.. Thanks to hellangel for deck. I think it's really good vs many matchups and also fun to play.

by _SM0KE_ on 2008-03-19 14:14 MDT

Chameleon blur and moonglove extract

Best sideboard I ever see

by RocknRaoul on 2008-03-19 14:28 MDT

what is the blur even for? o_O it does nothing for the deck...

by TonyC on 2008-03-20 02:11 MDT

The deck was definately a metagame choice, from what i've seen locally and online recently. It straight up wins vs decks with mountains in them (RG ramp, mono red crusher/Howling mine). Vs Fairies/REV the dice roll actually is very important as well as learning to play the matchup. This deck vs fairies is actually harder to play than it looks. However it is an almost autoloss vs UB teachings (and other heavy control decks), which I had hoped have such a bad matchup with the rest of the format I woudln't see it.

As far as the blurs, honestly they are just a local metagame SB (lots of WW and other green aggro decks I face all the time). Its also very good vs the elemental deck making the rounds now. That thing is crazy fast with a lot of beats. When i'm on the draw I side them in and they've won a few games for me. Moonglave extract seems very obvious SB VS sower, and other lords. 50% of the reason was also just to see the comments *grin* (Though I'd be willing to give odds, that 99% of the people trashing blur have never actually tested it in the current format -- because it does seems incredibly jank i know!).

A note on the finals -- sys_down was correct. he did get stuck on 2 and 3 lands (though infi elves), so wasn't a very exciting final.

by TonyC on 2008-03-20 02:17 MDT

Two quick notes about MGA that seem counter intuitive at first:

1) Treetop is awful. Their main job is wrath resistance, and if your running into heavy boardsweeping decks your probably going to lose anyway. In 60+ matchups in the last 2 weeks with this deck i've swung with treetop a handful of times at best. The format is just too crazy fast atm, and he's not worth the come into play tapped.

2) Fairies seem the big deck atm. Stop casting spells against them by turn 2/3 and just beat for 2-4 a turn with little stuff till they are forced to play stuff. Side out garruks for more squalls/moongloves. I have often beat fairies with a 4-5 threats in hand (lords, collosus, etc)

3)Yes I can't count -- Do not scoff at turn 1 elf, turn 2 druid, turn 3 8/8 trampling beats!

by Husapi on 2008-03-22 03:28 MDT

where is the pendelhaven

that mono-green sideboard looks awful

by Husapi on 2008-03-22 23:46 MDT

and where is cloudthreasher

by Lantero on 2008-03-23 15:50 MDT
