I finally didn't make top 8 :(. Luckily I did lose to the winner, who had a nice deck, good job Kev!

Kev, I like the deck idea very much. I may tweak it and use it, actually. Congratz for originality, man.

by gypsy on 2008-03-15 19:05 MDT

he just copied naoki shizumis deck its not his dont give him credit for it

by Kev on 2008-03-16 04:36 MDT

Gypsy, i actually did change some things.

-4 Wall of Roots
-3 Primal Command
-2 Lands
-1 Mannequin

+4 Birds of Paradise
+2 Profane Command
+1 Body Double
+1 Loxodon Warhammer
+1 Into the North

I know i didn't change a lot, I know it isn't my deck idea, but if no one else is giving the deck credit for how strong it is I don't mind. It still beats the crap out of Faeries and Aggro

by gypsy on 2008-03-16 05:24 MDT

i didnt mean u didnt change its just stupid when u get credit for an idea that isnt yours

by Jacois on 2008-03-16 08:47 MDT

Nice work Kev. And what's the deal with Civic Wayfinder recently? I haven't tried it but it just seems terrible. I'm still thinking of it in terms of Ravnica T2, but still. Is it really that good?

by Kev on 2008-03-16 08:50 MDT

Cardadvantage is cardadvantage, i cant really put it any other way. I definatley think its better then any form of rampant growth variant Its mostly good, becasue it gets you to play something on t2/3 and gives you a free land drop. This card is the reason the deck can get down to 22 lands. (albeit thats prolly 1 too few)

by gypsy on 2008-03-16 10:54 MDT

i used to think wayfinder was bad then i started playing the bg decks and its just rly good, u want to hit ur land drops while its a guy its pretty awsome

by Richterk on 2008-03-16 13:39 MDT

Actually, Gypsy, his deck is nothing like Naoki Shizumi's deck at all. Compare the lists. Completely different deck goals, actually.

by gypsy on 2008-03-16 14:23 MDT

how are there completely different goals, get advantage through mannequin and removal, the decks have some cards different but like 80% is the same, learn what you are talking about,

by Elder on 2008-03-16 14:39 MDT

Erm... Cloudthresher + Squall Line + Birds of Paradise? Are u serious? Naoki's deck runs walls for some reason...

by mufl0n on 2008-03-16 16:38 MDT

xD jajaja

by AkYo on 2008-03-16 19:15 MDT

haha elder..

by Vedrfolner on 2008-03-17 01:54 MDT

hmmm somebody tried Ur turbo bounce... how did that go?

by Kev on 2008-03-17 08:19 MDT

Elder, i run birds because the deck doesnt have 1 drops. It is too strong not to play. Indeed sometimesyou dont want to play tresher or use Squall Line, but after game 1 against faeries you board those out anyway o_0 just like you would board out wall of roots...

by Pit42 on 2008-03-17 21:42 MDT

lucas >>> all

:)

and gj winning the Master :)

by BloodyAngel on 2008-03-18 00:02 MDT

by gypsy on 2008-03-18 00:25 MDT

mb u are dumb? hurricaneis sorcery u never will resolve it with faeris and squall is instant

by gypsy on 2008-03-18 09:58 MDT

faeries plays like 4 counters how will it never resolve, but ya squall line is probably better i didnt realise one was instant, one was sorcery squall line is better when they try to clique u on upkeep

by Richterk on 2008-03-19 00:19 MDT

Actually, Gypsy, Naoki's build takes on more of a ManaRamp perspective, whereas Kev's build has a more central purpose like you described involving card advantage through Makeshift Mannequin and removal. Naomi's build used Mannequin as just a bonus condition as part of playing black in the deck as a primary color. That is another reason why HE chose to play Wall of Roots as opposed to birds. He wanted a huge Profane Command or to beat face with huge creatures (which he could tutor for with the Primal Command). Kev's build is running Warhammer and Body Double with faster accel, so the main idea of the deck is quite literally fast and ugly beats. So, again the decks are VERY different.

I very much "know what I'm talking about", and the decks are completely different.

by nicoblm on 2008-03-22 08:06 MDT

hello kev, i like your deck, what about sideboarding strategies?
i think i'll play festercreep>bitterblossoms against faeries what do you think about it?
