Ky3 again...Grats to top4

by TugaChampion on 2008-02-28 06:42 MDT

omg! ovmlcabrera won with a bad version of DeathCloud!!!

by macmike on 2008-02-28 06:58 MDT

Wishes are nice in Cloud, but only 2 Garruk seems questionable.

by pack on 2008-02-28 08:33 MDT

Ky3 deck was some anti aggro stuff ^^

by ovmlcabrera on 2008-02-28 10:00 MDT

jeeje i dont use Tarmogoyf.

by PolarBearGod on 2008-02-28 10:11 MDT

Are Burning Wishes "really" worth that much trouble?

by Shooter on 2008-02-28 10:56 MDT

no

by JudasPriest- on 2008-02-28 11:00 MDT

Ky3 for president!

by aldaryn on 2008-02-28 11:52 MDT

nice idea, but i'm not convinced about wish. solemns and epochs could be good though

also...i know goyf is sometimes a non-bo with deed but he's so big, you pretty much need to play him

by curly on 2008-02-28 12:31 MDT

wtg ky3. you rape and pillage the trials everytime(almost) gj to everyone else also i like how fire/ice got the nod over jet (cmc, thedarkness hint hint)

by PV on 2008-02-28 12:38 MDT

I have to say I kinda like wish in that deck
but I also hate everything else you changed :P

by Blade332 on 2008-02-28 12:59 MDT

His deck has a lot of synergy. (ovmlcabrera)

Simulacrum + Epochrasite + Planeswalkers and a Deathcloud = pretty good.

I don't like simulcrum though, and think you should take them out for 2 garruk and another Liliana. The Planes walkers are much better with DC than the Simulacrum is.

Burning wish I do like. It gives it a lot of consistency in grabbing DC, as DC is the nuts in the deck, and the only reason what so ever that it's good.

Also, it 'can' make the dredge matchup winnable game one (though unlikely), and also gives his deck the distinct advantage in the mirror.

Congrats. And for it 'not being worth it' *looks at shooter* he sure ripped up the tournament, and beat a pretty good player with it.

EDIT: Oh, and I forget to mention. If your going to run more creatures (as you did) Cabal Therapy is probably > Duress.

by PolarBearGod on 2008-02-28 13:34 MDT

They need a planeswalker wish.

Also, it's not like he had intentions of sac'ing Baloth/STE for a Therapy. They're serving their own purposes as is. Witness, yes, Jens, yes, Epochrasite, not as much. If he just ran the Garruks, then he gets plenty of options on 3/3 beasts to use with said Therapy if he was running it to begin with. Even with him running creatures in that deck, I can't agree that Therapy > Duress.

Also, Pyroclasm, Grip, and Seize are the only cards you can consistently Wish for and cast in the same turn. I think this format has such great discard that it's almost not worth it to Wish for anything that you can't cast right afterwards. That and the format has such turbo aggression.

I think we can all agree that NLB is tier 1 and heavily played in most circumstances. Having to dig for one of two Clouds to bypass their Counterbalance is a pain in the ass. Senaking a 2CC wish pass their Balance is unlikely. Garruks also help push the Cloud to the point that it hurts them and gets their grip.

grip is vs scepter chant .cluod play in sorcery speed

"wtg ky3. you rape and pillage the trials everytime(almost) gj to everyone else also i like how fire/ice got the nod over jet (cmc, thedarkness hint hint)"

Magma Jet IS better than Fire//Ice in a combo deck. The goal is to get an ideal and the mana to cast it (and boseiju vs counterspells), Magma Jet with scry 2 allows you to do that much faster than Fire//Ice which doesn't even draw the card when used for what it's in the deck for, killing mages and teegs. When you DO play ice, there's not much to play it on that will really benefit much, it might buy you a turn vs aggro but you should be able to go off by then anyways, with magma jet you could end up killing a creature (firecat), and then scry, potentially getting rid of 2 cards in the way of what you need.

by Eldar on 2008-02-28 15:21 MDT

The only reason that the wish is there is to get around meddling mage and gaddock teeg without using smother and to allow a more consistent draw against slower decks. All in all I don't think it seems worth it to rape your sideboard slots but if it works it works. GJ.

by aldaryn on 2008-02-28 15:43 MDT

you can't burning wish for grip.

deathmark seems like a good wish target.

by gypsy on 2008-02-28 21:05 MDT

how does the loam deck do vs doran?

by curly on 2008-02-29 11:18 MDT

gush it was meant as a joke to a conversation we had like a day ago..i know that jet is better then fire/ice. also i think the wish in cloud is a good idea atm but you need more garruk.
