by navajita on 2008-01-17 15:41 MDT

Volrath89 no agrodeck jaja
Is agrocontrol

by Krejcik on 2008-01-17 15:48 MDT

Rifter?! WTF? goddamnit I'm not gonna miss another 1.5 Trial again.

Meh 1 Pox and it dropped after 1-0 :/

Funny how theirs 5 or so Dragon Stompy decks there though.

by Weedmonkey on 2008-01-17 15:48 MDT

No burn in top 3? Everyone knows that burn is by far the best deck in Legacy.

by ykpon on 2008-01-17 15:56 MDT

my matchups were 2 lands belcher, rw goblins, uwg countertop, ugrw tresh, bye, ugr tresh.

by TwoTrees on 2008-01-17 16:17 MDT

Damn i wish i didn't have school.

by NahHolmes on 2008-01-17 16:22 MDT

Weedmonkey, Burn is not even close to the best deck in Legacy. It used to actually be really good but no single card in Burn can kill Tarmogoyf and it loses hands down to UGx Thresh/Top the real best deck in the format.

by Ky3 on 2008-01-17 16:43 MDT

UGx Thresh/Top is not best NahHolmes

by Ky3 on 2008-01-17 16:46 MDT

Weedmonkey burn sucks

by Ky3 on 2008-01-17 16:52 MDT

And lucker ykpop GJ

by Ky3 on 2008-01-17 17:03 MDT

*ykpon БЛЯ

by ykpon on 2008-01-17 17:16 MDT

Ky3 lol
Weedmonkey burn has only one good matchup among tier 1 decks - goblins. yup it wasnt so bad before tarmo and counterbalanse but now it isnt even tier 3 imo.

by on 2008-01-17 17:33 MDT

the best deck in any format depends on what the majority of the people are playing ie the metagame, if you get the meta right u can just ride good mathups all the way like the legacy trial i won with belcher played against stupid red decks all day and u cant lose to them. if you think the meta will be diverse a thresh variant or counter/top variant is probably the way to go.

by BigShow on 2008-01-17 20:31 MDT

ITS PARFAIT GET IT RIGHT

by NahHolmes on 2008-01-17 20:46 MDT

@Lennin- No, the best deck in the FORMAT is the best deck overall, the best deck for the META is the best deck given what other people are playing at a given tourney.
@KY3- What, in your opinion, is the best deck in the format then?
@ykpon- Your deck loses to a single Extirpate, comment?

by Eldariel on 2008-01-17 22:28 MDT

Wow, I forgot about the damn tournament. Blaaah.

by Daveslusher- on 2008-01-17 23:32 MDT

i made one huge mistake vs ykpon and that was not countering his first blood moon in game 2. Yes the deck in itsself scoops to extirapte or even in my case haunting echoes. I played ICBE Countertop control and enjoyed it thoughoughly. Although it plays like wombat and goes to time in blue control mirrors. My frist round came down to my opponent decking right before time was called. Gj to ykpon.

by on 2008-01-18 02:27 MDT

yes but there is no best deck in the meta in any format its just too diverse.

by Vermelho on 2008-01-18 02:55 MDT

Why is there no Decree of Justice in the Rifter?

by ykpon on 2008-01-18 03:51 MDT

2NahHolmes: it doesnt lose to a single extirpate, only to 2 of (and 3 of if rifter plays decree). but anyway there are cards this deck loses against, such as echoes or geddon or smthg else. there are such cards against other decks too, not only vs rifter. but i found these cards not to be popular here and thats why i took this deck (and cuz its my irl deck too). and for example Daveslusher had extirbate in his wishboard but i think he just couldnt play it because of blood moon in play.

2ReD-Taichou: i found it useful only in control meta because nearly always i have other and possibly better ways to spend all my mana. mb i will play 1 or 2 of vs random extirpates and decks like muc.

by Ky3 on 2008-01-18 04:15 MDT

2NahHolmes in my opinion 1.5 is format where u need skill not just net deck UGx Thresh/Top(alot of good deck can beat it easy)for example tresh cant win vs decks with loam
i want to say thx to Equinox for very good game
and play legacy :D

by on 2008-01-18 04:23 MDT

thresh decks cant win vs loam ur right thats why good versions play counter top now.

by mrwegle on 2008-01-18 05:24 MDT

GJ ykpon

by idraleo on 2008-01-18 12:39 MDT

rifter= LoL

by NahHolmes on 2008-01-18 14:04 MDT

@ykpon- No all someone needs to do is Extirpate Dragon and you have no win conditions, then the only way you can win is to deck them unless Dragon already swung. Other then that you have 15 points worth of direct damage, so why would someone need 2 Extirpates?
@Ky3- Well if you suck you can't win with anything, obviously, and actually there are NOT a lot of GOOD decks that can beat it easily. UGx beats Combo more or less hands down, something few other decks can do G1 and has a favorable game vs. Goblins. While random decks beat it; Loam, Stax, Rock, Lands, no one plays these decks and if they do many, many, sideboard options are available, hence the x in UGx, depending on what people are playing a different splash is called for... The only good deck i would say that beats it that people actually play is Landstill and speaking of decks you can't just netdeck and win with...
Anyways point being since Tarmogoyf came out I'd guess Thresh was almost 1/3 of all Top 8's and it defines the Format as a deck, not to mention it's been good longer then any other deck except maybe Goblins.

by Teraa on 2008-01-18 14:36 MDT

@NahHolmes

by Colossus on 2008-01-18 15:27 MDT

wow...these lists are so bad.

and to think I sometimes wonder why I left this place...

by Ky3 on 2008-01-18 15:41 MDT

Colossus is it great to say "wow...these lists are so bad"??

by Lynolf on 2008-01-18 16:15 MDT

Whatta hell is the strategy of a rifter deck?

by Via on 2008-01-18 16:43 MDT

Rifter looks like bad T2 deck from Onslaught era with Swords and Humility added. But..

It worked well that tourney so big congratz to ykpon.

by georgjorge on 2008-01-31 03:45 MDT

@NahHolmes: While you are right that Thresh is an AMAZINGLY GOOD deck, it is not as invulnerable as you make it out to be. Having played Thresh a lot, it especially loses to Midgame- and Control-decks, most prominently Landstill and Stax of course, but also all those variations of BGx decks running small efficient creatures like Thresh (Goyf, Confidant), but also some more expensive and better stuff like Vindicate, Deed etc. Those usually win because their cards are always just a little more powerful than those of Thresh, and like Landstill and Stax ,they are good enough not to lose against the rest of the field easily.
