1st. Fun decks. Why do you run leyline over yixlid in 5c zoo? I guess personal preference but w/e.

by marcelangelo on 2007-12-12 19:17 EDT

because yixlid can kill by a burn.. and cant play on opening hand

by Jayzus on 2007-12-12 19:26 EDT

wheres the blue in 5c Zoo?

by marcelangelo on 2007-12-12 19:30 EDT

That zoo deck is total jank.

Wtf Tarmogoyf.

Yeah sorry i'm placing and you have yet to make a top8 in a trial.

by kendiggy on 2007-12-12 21:08 EDT

Okay, i did miss the first extended season when it rotated, but explain to me, what exactly is Chocolate Reins and King in the castle? Somehow I feel like I'm going to get flamed horribly for asking.

by Wrecked on 2007-12-12 21:18 EDT

How does rock get away with not playing collective restraint? CR would be great against the rest of the top 4

by MilanG[GER] on 2007-12-12 21:38 EDT

hmm let me think about it

because it doesn't need it

by Daveslusher- on 2007-12-12 21:49 EDT

Chocolate Reign is basicly flow rock without flow
King in the Castle is that deck you got 2nd with last extended trial UGx Solution

by aldaryn on 2007-12-12 22:29 EDT

you already have deeds, damnation, etc and hierarchs to get life back. collective restraint is cute against dredge but it is a total waste of space against tog or tron...big deal if it is good against this top 4

by PolarBearGod on 2007-12-12 22:49 EDT

There sure are a lot of wasted sideboard slots gearing against Dredge.dec. I know you "have" to sideboard for the deck, but if the metagame shapes up like this to where dredge isn't even making an appearance, the sideboard hate could be relaxed some. I guess in contrast, the winning deck abuses the graveyard too, but it's not going to kill you in the first three turns either.

Just some thoughts. Congrats to the winners.

by aldaryn on 2007-12-12 23:09 EDT

The zoo list is great. I really think Gaddock Teeg shines in that deck, he's so disruptive, even if he is wussier than Watchwolf. I like the idea of replacing a bit of burn (Firebolt) with Molten Rain even though the mana is even more awful....and while we're at it, since you're in the colors, is there any way that you could make Doran fit in? He's such a huge beater at the mere 3-drop, and he pumps Tarmogoyf and Kird Ape.

by Jayzus on 2007-12-13 00:14 EDT

edit, weird 12 hour interval double post

by Holzi on 2007-12-13 02:07 EDT

Mtg.de!!!

by Ro on 2007-12-13 03:27 EDT

Yay, the best deck wins! :)

by xion on 2007-12-13 06:11 EDT

well done milan pitty our match had to end up in flips

by ChristPunchr on 2007-12-13 13:02 EDT

Someone should copy/paste their "PT Junk" list...I'm curious how a deck that revolved around demonic consultation/vampiric tutor , phyrexian negator, swords and tithes could be brought back into 1.x after three rotations.

Also, 4c gifts control is capable of winning without the 'yard. Even then, let's say you remove the genesis, they can still wish it back and there are three witnesses...technically seven(for consistency purposes). No singleton grip is somewhat surprising, but I guess it isn't too needed.

by DH on 2007-12-13 14:14 EDT

I fell asleep after winning r1, and lost due to my own inability to wake up. Tenacious Tron ftw

by on 2007-12-13 14:27 EDT

junk never ran tutor, demonic consultation or negator... it was just gbw midrange rockish stuff

by ChristPunchr on 2007-12-13 16:08 EDT

Lennin, you are so wrong that it's fucking frightening.

The fact you refer to it as "rockish" pretty much says you aren't too familiar with pre-rotation 1.x.

Just do some hunting.

where are the tutors in those lists mayb u should do deck hunting b4 making a stupid comment

by Amateur on 2007-12-14 14:49 EDT

I wonder if Lennin noticed the list Kaesh posted above ^^

by on 2007-12-14 16:00 EDT

yes that list is terrible go look at old gp coverage for pt junk decks they all look like the one i posted

by marcelangelo on 2007-12-14 16:26 EDT

what does PT junk means? ftw... PTJUNK??

by ChristPunchr on 2007-12-14 17:16 EDT

The one Kaesh posted is one of the original lists and I said consultation or tutor.

Yay, you pulled some of the more recent lists off mtg.com, good job.

I'll post a list of one later today, I am a bit busy right now.

Marcelango:

It got its name because there was already a deck called PT Jank. The original lists(notably before odyssey) were a gwb aggro/disruption decks that had random "junk" in them, that happened to make some matches trivial.
The deck took a similar approach to three deuce, in that it had answers in the main to most popular decks.

PT Junk lists tended to vary between good players too.

Kaesh:

Thanks for the deck post and the correction, three rotations was a brain fart.

Either way, I'll post the list I was thinking of specifically.

by Wrecked on 2007-12-14 20:31 EDT

Collective Restraint can flat out win you games? Most of the meta game is aggro, with random control mixed in. How can you give aggro a 3-5 life head start running 3 Thoughtseize? Yea, you might have a very slightly better control match up, but with all the aggro, seems like you lucked in to 1st. Running 2 vindicate and 2 putrefy over running restraint is horrible.

by aldaryn on 2007-12-14 22:26 EDT

i don't know about thoughtseize, but i reiterate that collective restraint is bad in as many matchups as it is good: it's worthless against counterbalance, tron, ideal, the rock mirror, teps

by Daveslusher- on 2007-12-15 00:04 EDT

Thoughtsieze hits piledrivers and warchiefs. As goblins can come from nowhere to stomp you. I persoally find it ok to go to 15 on turn 1, it's fun = D

by TylerTMK on 2007-12-15 01:12 EDT

YES COLLECTIVE RESTRAINT IS A DO NOTHING CARD

King of the Castle is GWu...basically gw aggro with trinket mages

by Ggerg on 2007-12-15 02:59 EDT

...thought it'd be fun to post a retarded do-nothing comment here like everyone else

by ajvanadri on 2007-12-15 07:54 EDT

I love how Lennin is the most arrogant person here, yet I cant remember him placing top 4 in any of the recent trials

by on 2007-12-15 09:06 EDT

im not arrogant i dont think im better than everyone i just think people are stupid, and i won a trial last week, and top8 the master, when was the last time u did anything here

by Daveslusher- on 2007-12-15 12:09 EDT

PIE!!

by ChristPunchr on 2007-12-15 14:44 EDT

Lennin isn't arrogant:

His mouth is just full of cock most of the time, so he has a lot to say as a result...you know; because cocks in ones mouth is quite detrimental to speaking aloud.

by on 2007-12-15 16:49 EDT

yes clearly i wouldnt know about cocks in people mouths so i wouldnt know how that would affect speaking

by ChristPunchr on 2007-12-15 18:46 EDT

Very predictable reply. I guess speculation doesn't exist in your world, either? You fucking retard.
Look into better retorts.

by metzel_usa on 2007-12-21 11:26 EDT

haha i love just looking at the comments i dont even care about the top 4 decks anymore...its either lennin vs world or daveslusher vs world
