First! Yeah...

by RedWolf on 2006-12-05 05:21 MDT

Second! Cool, land control actually going competitive...

by Counterlife on 2006-12-05 05:30 MDT

Land control only had one aggro matchup...rest were Solar flare and other control decks. Im thinking this is gonna get netdecked for 2-3 days with little success. Thats just me.

by RedWolf on 2006-12-05 05:42 MDT

Actually, this deck wrecks BDW. Cant logically explain, but I have played 2 testing matches with my own version, which plays Agustin IV, both against BDW and won 2-0 in both. Shame I got beaten in the first round yesterday

by Shiva on 2006-12-05 06:26 MDT

welcome to the jungle =x

by DESTRUCTOR on 2006-12-05 06:38 MDT

What a crazy deck o.O ....how did that beat boros??

by Caranthir on 2006-12-05 06:47 MDT

Good work R_I_P

U beat me , so u must top at the tourney.

"Funk la wea"

by BattleofWits on 2006-12-05 08:34 MDT

I dig the land control deck

by sgtpepper87 on 2006-12-05 08:48 MDT

lol @ dragonstorm, 13 players play it and none of them top 3's

by Apocalypser on 2006-12-05 09:02 MDT

The same stands for martytron. 10 players and none of them tops.

by Eldar on 2006-12-05 09:38 MDT

Gratz fear_these I saw you play this vs. my U/W Control in the previous trial makes me feel better about almost beating it. Stupid mana flood. *Points and laughs at martyr and dstorm*. Also if anyone knows who played BGR rock and the list I would be interested.

by R_I_P on 2006-12-05 09:46 MDT

destructor how did that beat boros?? easy flood in the 3rd gamee jajajaja XD!!!

by Jacois on 2006-12-05 10:43 MDT

Wow, land control looks like a house. Im a rogue deckbuilder at heart, but I would LOVE to net this one. Looking at the list I can see how it can handle BDW. It must be a blast to un-suspended a Cloudskate, Momentary Blink it, then Flashback the Blink. Thats uber-hot.

by DaanP on 2006-12-05 10:54 MDT

WOOWWW props to zapatitos for netdecking spyx's list and almost winning with it, go mga :P

by aldaryn on 2006-12-05 10:56 MDT

Wouldn't the land control deck just love some Annex? Maybe over Stone Rain, or in addition to?

by metzel_usa on 2006-12-05 10:59 MDT

Should probaly be called WUR Blink Control and shouldn't Stone Rain be Cryoclasm??? Only deck that doesn't play a plains or a island is well uhmmm 98/112 decks in the trial played a plain or island...and the decks that didn't play them were aggro so they prob get sided out...I suggest moving cryoclasm to MD and put annex in its spot. That prob makes the list alot better.

by fear_these on 2006-12-05 10:59 MDT

The deck is called BlinkRiders. It has great game against control and the aggro matchup is 60% because it has 4 Helix and 4 Riftbolt. The only bad matchups are MGA, Goblins, anything random like reanimator unless you get a cloudskate out early. 50/50 with Glare and anything playing green for big creatures because all you can do is trade 2 for 1 or bounce them. Shaheen Soorani played this deck at worlds and went 4-2 and got 9th. The creator of the deck, myself and a friend went to SCG $1000 open and one of us top 8'ed.

by Benobi on 2006-12-05 11:46 MDT

Fear the rise of MGA!!!

by Stryfe- on 2006-12-05 12:57 MDT

I lost to fear_these in round 3. I told him he was going to win the trial. I dont feel as bad now because he actually did :). Very solid deck

by sc4rs on 2006-12-05 13:03 MDT

Rift Bolt in the main over Cryoclasm in the main = huh...?

Annex is slowish. If MGA is a problem, board Condemns. Seems like a good deck though.

by Spyx on 2006-12-05 13:34 MDT

:) rogue decking for life!
happy to see someone could t3 with my list :)

by fear_these on 2006-12-05 13:37 MDT

This deck is a competetive deck and I am not worried about MGA. Rift Bolt main over Cryoclasm is for the aggro matchup. The control match up is already great, so why do you want to weaken your aggro game and helping your control matchup because you don't need it.

by Craze on 2006-12-05 14:25 MDT

I dunno whats sadder, WUR Land control or MGA....

I'm mean seriously, did no one netdeck off of worlds? Cause over preparation for decks that weren't used is the only way these could have won

by dsad on 2006-12-05 15:43 MDT

the boros deck should be PV.dec

by aldaryn on 2006-12-05 16:02 MDT

Everyone netdecked, RulesLawyer. 10 Martyrtron and 14 Boros. and 13 Dragonstorm.

by PV on 2006-12-05 16:52 MDT

I was actually toying with the 1st deck's idea long before... glad to see someone else thought about it too

by dboy1 on 2006-12-05 16:52 MDT

lol...a netdecked trial...cept for the top 3...lolz

by yavin1 on 2006-12-05 17:11 MDT

i think that deck could hold aggro if it put some firemane angel/Wog

by TugaChampion on 2006-12-05 17:19 MDT

at least 1 Boros top3ed. DS isn't that great because of it's inconsistency (although with 13 someone should have been lucky enough to do well) and Martyrtron is just plain gay.

by therapist on 2006-12-05 17:35 MDT

i hope all 13 dstorms were copies of the worlds winner.

by magiclover on 2006-12-05 18:07 MDT

Interesting 1st Deck.. too bad they didn't reprint man O war.. or your deck will be much better...

dun really like that deck, what happends if you don't get your 4th land? I think is better to consider added some signets to replace rift bolt for that acceleration

by nasa on 2006-12-05 18:12 MDT

i like the choice of stone rain over cryo maindeck.
i love hitting a karoo with ld.
but that list looks pretty good, a little different than the list i've been working with for a couple weeks. ill test it out see what i think.
grats to top!

by magiclover on 2006-12-05 18:14 MDT

Going to ask this one more time... is Dryad Sophisticate really useful?

It seems to get killed one way or another..

Silhana Ledgewalker >> this guy r0x

by DESTRUCTOR on 2006-12-05 20:01 MDT

by R_I_P on 2006-12-05 11:46 EST

destructor how did that beat boros?? easy flood in the 3rd gamee jajajaja XD!!!
haha ok nice to know it xD

well maybe after this people will stop playing martyrtron and play something that trys to win instead of not losing which is really sad

by Bozo on 2006-12-05 20:47 MDT

Martyrtron does try to win...eventually.

by Over_t_hills on 2006-12-05 20:57 MDT

Mono Green Again in TOP 3...

:)

wait until your opponent dies decked is not trying to win ¬¬ ...even too 2 chronosavant and 1 urza's factory looks like can really go beatdown.....

by Spyx on 2006-12-06 15:56 MDT

Yes the Sophisticate is definetely worth it. Unblockable in just about every matchup, and once a cloak or armor sticks on it it's out of burn reach (except for char, but if you're opp has to use char on your creature you're already winning the race).
Boros has soltari priest, and you have sophisticate..
And yeah, ledgewalker kicks major ass :)

by magiclover on 2006-12-06 17:43 MDT

Well my version use ranger(Replace sophisticaled Dryad) and Force

Force actually gives me better chances against boros(once is out on the 3rd turn.. is good game boros) Izzitron has problem dealing with it too.

about your sideboard.. i use spike feeder against boros rather than hunted wumpus, i have 4 defense grid too.. 2 gaint solidfuge and 3 korsan grip..

I don't really find any use for the Elvish Warrior.

by Boba383 on 2006-12-07 08:02 MDT

I think GWB Chord is suppossed to be Project X, I know I left first round but its the closest name to my deck I can find in that list.....

If you don't know, Project X is suppossed to be a combo deck that uses Saffi and Crypt and some other creature (Teysa, Soul Warden or that one legend who's name I don't remember now) to get either infinite 1/1 flyers, infinite life or infinite 3/1 haste tokens....
