Here's the metagame breakdown. As always, if a deck name isn't the name of the deck let me know VIA irc, don't make a post here, it's very annoying having a discussion of how the deck should be named instead a real discussion on the decks that were played in the trial.

Aggro [24]
3 Satanic Sligh
3 UG Dutch
3 MGA
3 BW Hand in Hand
2 BW Husk
2 UG Snakes
2 Gruul
2 Zoo
1 Sea Stompy
1 RW Boros
1 Vipies!
1 Ninja Pile

Control [10]
2 Solar Flare
2 UBw Counterbalance
2 UW Snow Control
1 UB Snow Control
1 UB Control
1 UGBW Control
1 Sizzetron

Combo [2]
1 Heartbeat

low trial count but ooo well
another tomorrow

by Circa on 2006-09-23 11:05 MST

I gave cimc that list!

Good job, bitch.

by aggroking on 2006-09-23 11:31 MST

wtf? how could snakes loose against satanic sligh in the finals? seems like ophidio is a lucker or mastikore bad :P
snakes has a 70/30 mu against satanic sligh, even if mastikores list is suboptimal

by Eldariel on 2006-09-23 11:37 MST

Those SB Martyrs and Yetis probably helped in it.

by the_guy_123 on 2006-09-23 11:41 MST

The Yeti is underrated in my opinion, I play 3 in my Ponza build and they own!

by Djinn on 2006-09-23 11:49 MST

All you've to do is control the jitte, then play a sweeping effect and proceed to win.

by sonicqaz on 2006-09-23 12:13 MST

I dont know if that's true. Sosuke's Summons usually means you need more than one sweeping effect to win the game.

I think an active Jitte or Coat should win for snakes. The matchup is in favor of snakes, but not at a clip of 80/20. More like 60/40.

by aggroking on 2006-09-23 12:40 MST

@soniqaz:
who said 80/20? :P

by Fabio on 2006-09-23 14:50 MST

Is Dark Confidant and Hit/Run a really good combination?

by Danker on 2006-09-23 15:01 MST

Controlling jitte is not that easy...

by Rotstejn on 2006-09-23 15:01 MST

yes ....

by center425 on 2006-09-23 16:27 MST

hit/run is so good it is worth the minor chance of flipping it over with confidant.

by Ith- on 2006-09-23 16:59 MST

How much life will you lose when you flip Hit//Run with Confidant?

by beule on 2006-09-23 18:14 MST

3 + 5 = 8 life

by ChristPunchr on 2006-09-23 18:49 MST

what kind of faggot name is Fabio?

by Malice on 2006-09-23 19:05 MST

Hey, good to see another UW snow control doing good in a trial. Although, Snow Pies would have done better in that top 4. Congratz Traguil

Also wanted to mention i like the condems, very nice card in there.

by thinktank on 2006-09-23 19:05 MST

those who often call others n00bs or often make fun of others name really brush against my skin, i mean whats the point, do you want to exert what little power you have in the net over others because you are severely trying to make up for failures in life? If a player wins a trial or makes it to the top 4, is it really so hard just to say " good job" and just maybe assume that maybe that player got to where he/she is because they're good at whatever it is they're doing, no wonder this world is messed...anyways enough rambling, good job to all the people in top4 , nice job.

by Columbus on 2006-09-23 22:47 MST

In a trial of nothing but crap decks, logic dictates a crap deck will win.

Doesn't anyone play good decks anymore?

Pathetic..

Satanic Sligh...not only is it a netdeck - it's a horrible netdeck.

by ejv on 2006-09-24 03:23 MST

ophidio is a friend of mine and a very good player he knows the meta very well and his card choices are very accurate... I'm not suprised at all he won... also aggroking when you ask yourself how does satanic sligh beat snakes well obviously the answer is martyr of the ashes...

by ChristPunchr on 2006-09-24 04:18 MST

zzzzz, thank god for rotations and huzzah for fresh new formats.

by jukai on 2006-09-24 05:42 MST

yamabushi's flame ftw!

by cimc on 2006-09-24 07:03 MST

as circa said he gave me the deck so I figured my auto-loss to active jitte during trail.

round 1 I win 2-1 vs ug aggro after losing g1 when jitte sticks and winning the other 2 when I needle it or he doesnt have jitte.

round 2 I win vs ghost husk I think it was 2-0 but it was really tough cause 1 game he got jitte then promise of burani and husk os husk died and I had to kill 4 spirit tokens in a row with rakdos GM to prevent the jitte crazyness, im pretty sure he also had arena but drew bad cause I eventually chared the last token to play genju smack for 8 and win next turn. g2 I beat jitte arena again but I think I had bob this time so it was better.

Round 3 I win 2-0 vs snakes which was kinda odd, I got really lucky both games when he didnt draw sosuke summons ftw in any of them.

semifinals another snakes deck and I somehow steal g1 with early genju dmg g2 he draws ok and I lose to jitte and viper tokens like I should g3 my draw is preety good but he threads of dissloyality my bob and then just play jitte ftw

I dont really see how snakes can lose this matchup if its 3 out of 5 probably 2 out of 3 sligh player can get lucky and use his skills

by CHRONICBL on 2006-09-24 13:23 MST

I play satanic sligh on modo where snakes run rampant. When playing in 8 man events I side in 4x ickspitters they dominate the matchup.
