Mwahaha

and let the flaming begin.

by Anti-Christ on 2006-04-20 02:12 MDT

Some pretty good lists and that Greater Good deck looks solid.
More like Glare with 3 Greater Good.

by blkaznguy4 on 2006-04-20 03:53 MDT

P.I.M.P. OWL CAME IN 2nd LOL!!!

by eEnder on 2006-04-20 04:30 MDT

ok saurgoth. how in the earth did you can lose the final?

.__.

by ADraw- on 2006-04-20 04:35 MDT

Hierarch, Solifuge, Watchwolf, Jitte, Guildmage, Elves and North Tree can make some pretty fast beats.

And the first place deck isn't Greater non-Gifts, it's GW Glare that has switched from MD Glare SB Good to MD Good SB Glare. Name it what you want but Greater non-Gifts is the deck Daro_G played a while back. Not GW Glare with Greater Good instead of Glare.

by seb_ on 2006-04-20 06:48 MDT

i'm totally with eEnder^^

by freebyes on 2006-04-20 07:16 MDT

the 1st place has a beatdown deck -.- its very fast , just like last time's glare deck

by Alandariel on 2006-04-20 07:41 MDT

It's about time Owling Mine did something productive.

Good job saurgoth and Stryfe-.

by Rebekah on 2006-04-20 08:03 MDT

It is nice to see Owl showing some kind of a finish. Good work saurgoth. However, I don't really like your build. It is the same as Antoine Ruels if I remember correctly. Also, your sideboard doesn't look bad. Mine is pretty random sideboard from the ones I have seen. I personally like my build much more. My sideboard needs a lot of work though.

I wasnt able to play in the Trial but here is my list to compare:

// Lands
10 Island
4 Steam Vents
4 Shivan Reef
2 Mikokoro, Center of the Sea
1 Shinka, the Bloodsoaked Kee
1 Minamo, School at Water's E
// Creatures
3 Kami of the Crescent Moon
// Spells
4 Eye of Nowhere
4 Remand
4 Howling Mine
4 Exhaustion
4 Ebony Owl Netsuke
4 Boomerang
3 Sudden Impact
3 Gigadrowse
3 Pyroclasm
2 Twincast
// Sideboard
SB: 4 Ivory Crane Netsuke
SB: 4 Volcanic Hammer
SB: 4 Threads of Disloyalty
SB: 3 Spiraling Embers

by digikma on 2006-04-20 08:12 MDT

Nobody cares about you version of owl. No offense man but we have a forum for people to post decklists.

Great job Saur on 2nd place

digikma: Don't be such an ass. I am new here.

by onecleanceli on 2006-04-20 09:22 MDT

once again... we see the randomness of garbage that makes top 4..... 1 week, its straight UR vore, the next week, w/b is back in there, and EVERY week there is random sh!t involved.... is noone playing heartbeat at all anymore?

by Rotstejn on 2006-04-20 09:38 MDT

Nice decks !

by Fayul on 2006-04-20 09:56 MDT

Wait, you're bitching about Vore sucking, and to beat vore, you want more Heartbeat. Brilliant plan there.

by NahHolmes on 2006-04-20 10:14 MDT

"ok saurgoth. how in the earth did you can lose the final?"
Elves + Elders + Wood Elves = LD & Owl proof mana curve. Do Vore and Owl really have a chance when you can play 2 mana producers a turn and drop Wolves as early as turn 2 even through first turn land bounce then turn 3 Hierarchs almost as easily? Answer, not really... Even Vores "God" hand of go first Bounce, Rain, Demolish can be laughed at if he drops first turn Llanowar Elves, and of course Owl sucks against any deck that can drop a few quick threats and swing. Thats why everyone stopped playing it in the first place remember?

by xmtgjunkiex on 2006-04-20 10:26 MDT

Yea, Owling Mine is a deck that really shouldnt be played... any fast cheap threat aggro deck.. like i dont know.. Zoo can roll it... if anyone plays white weenie or Boros even they would win... Crazy players

by Re-Venge on 2006-04-20 10:38 MDT

ya... u can tell that the first place deck is not greater good non gifts... because of the absense of wrath and the lack of goryos vengeance.... not to mention the random aggro in it. grtz for winning, but that deck is jank

by Stryfe- on 2006-04-20 11:04 MDT

My Deck is called Ghazi Good. Someone Please change it from Greater non gifts. The deck is defenitally not bad. It does good vs anything without a wildfire in it and i sb 3 sacred ground. Nice job Re-Venge for calling my deck jank. Thats exactly why it just won a team standard you genius.

by Spliff on 2006-04-20 11:20 MDT

Nice deck for the winner, good deck for 2nd, 3rd and 4th place decks are common among top finishes. I dont see anything out of place here, and yes i know ur vore didnt place high, cause vore gets smoked by everything but the first place deck

by blkaznguy4 on 2006-04-20 11:47 MDT

Spliff ... when was the last time you saw Owling Mine in the top places of a trial...

by Stryfe- on 2006-04-20 11:52 MDT

Owl seems to get better when you take away 85% of all the gruul and zoo decks from the m-l meta.

by asamodious on 2006-04-20 12:37 MDT

Owling mine is so random on its chances of making top 3/4 or not.

All of its matchups seem to be highly favorable, or unwinnable. If it can avoid the unwinnable matchups, it does well.

by ChristPunchr on 2006-04-20 17:51 MDT

Ur vore needs to get it's ideal eye, stone rain and demolish draws to do well.
Owl will always do well if it is matched up against control.
I can guarantee that the owl deck was liable to have only played one of the third or fourth place decks.
Good thing dissension is bringing in a counter that makes permission have an easier matchup against them.
DOWN WITH OWL

by Reverend_Oku on 2006-04-21 10:26 MDT

why werent any b/w decks running dicard even more important cranial extraction, i have played this deck against a owling main and it seems to work well.

by Tsumuki on 2006-04-21 11:29 MDT

All of these people that complain about these decklists are just the crybabies who lose to them in the tournament.

<--- Well said.

by Edster on 2006-04-22 14:58 MDT

Currently, the metagame on magic-league consists of mainly aggro builds. However, those aggro decks don't have enough card advantage, but on the other hand, Ghazi Good uses cards like Greater Good and Congregation at Dawn, hence why it one this trial. Also, I'd like to congratulate the Owling Mine player for getting past such an aggro meta.

*EDSTER*

by bandshmuck on 2006-04-24 10:32 MDT

God i love you Owling mine. You really are one of my favorite decks of all time

by bandshmuck on 2006-04-24 10:33 MDT

and ghazi-good sux ace

Yeah, that's why it won.
You're an idiot.
