Why the sideboard cards do have links and main deck doesn't ?

by VoreWhore on 2006-03-22 08:42 EST

That is definitely one of the most original builds I have seen in quite some time, Quetzilla. Damn fine job.

I like the current meta.. constantly shifting to new a better decks it seems. Better curves and card combinations. I like storm herd why not play hour of reckoning in board instead of culling sun? With convoke its kinda amazing. Sins of the past is nice add on.

good job vacancyman - itested with u :] - also how do u see more decks from a tourney?

by Tidus- on 2006-03-22 10:50 EST

I belive that quet designed the GBw Curio deck as well didnt he?

by VacancyMan on 2006-03-22 11:21 EST

PV could have beaten me first round on time in part because of a 20 minute-long ruling that could only bring about a 5 minute extension, and in greater part because his deck was a nightmare matchup for mine. However, he conceded. I owe not scrubbing out to him. Quet's deck was also a nightmare matchup, but he drew horribly in games 2 and 3.

Quet's comboid build looks very good in the current metagame - aggro doesn't have a chance against the removal that stalls until an unstoppable Herd, and control has a lot of dead or sub-par cards that are otherwise superb maindeck choices like Mortify and Putrefy that make the matchup very tough. The fact that so many decks are packing either so many creatures or so much creature removal generally guarantees a game 1 victory for any deck with a relatively unique win condition, whether it be Storm Herd or Invoke the Firemind(PV).

I wouldn't be surprised if this isn't the best combo deck possible in the current Ravnica Block, and I also wouldn't be suprised if combo becomes a scary part of the metagame. If a consistent and fast combo can escape Nightmare Void and whatever other little disruption the block currently has, we might need to rethink our maindeck choices and the metagame may emerge very differently from what one might expect.

man talk about some Fed up decks O.o gj everyone

by oct0pus on 2006-03-22 15:35 EST

quet didnt invent the deck; it was on modo 2 weeks ago

by GRAH on 2006-03-22 18:02 EST

Tidus: Yeah, Quet originally made the deck, except I took it from him 3 weeks ago, and totally revamped it. His version (he admits, too) was very sub-par, playing stuff like Farseek, which has no synergy.

Curio is one of the best decks to play here, and was a good meta deck for the trial, as it beats RW Aggro and 4c Hell with severe ease, which I figured would both be well-netdecked. I faced neither throughout the entire trial. :)

Also, you guys should note that I conceded to Vacancy on flips because we're teammates, NOT because he beat me. I'm fairly sure I could've won that matchup, even with Hour of Reckoning.

I might write a small report later.

Hey what do you guys think about trying to put chord of calling in the curio deck. It could make for some cool tricks. In response calling for the same dude and bounce my guy back to my hand and your creature kill spell is countered. Sounds sorta fun at the very least and heck it is block so why not? Just a thought.

I knew leyline of singulatity would come in handy somewhere.

by Candyflip on 2006-04-08 19:49 EST

stormherd in my opinion is the best block deck out right now. if quit modified his version adding some key cards they he and stryfe taked about im sure he would have won with the right list. the herd deck is nearly unbeatable when made right. nice job quit with placing 4th and creating one of the most powerful decks in any meta that ive seen in a long time.
