Most Popular cards on M-L in Standard (05-01-12)

Written by derflippi on January 05, 2012

Magic-League holds A LOT of tournaments, and we have A LOT of data gathered on decks, players and formats. I'm publishing collations of the data (or similar data) on a semi-regular basis.

I got asked to also compare the compilation of each month with the previous month.
Therefore on most tables you see a >; <; or = next to it. The symbols describe a card's rank in comparison with the previous month. ">" means the card climbed up in ranks, a "<" the opposite. A "=" means the card could keep its rank.

Without further ado, I present to you the card statistics from all Standard(T2) tournaments run on magic-league since November 1st, 2011.

1. Maindeck cards in [ISD] Standard of November 1st, 2011 - January 4th, 2012
2. Sideboard cards in [ISD] Standard of November 1st, 2011 - January 4th, 2012
3. Lands in [ISD] Standard of November 1st, 2011 - January 4th, 2012

At first, i was like: Mountain is being played more than island? WHAT???

Then I realized that most RDW decks run only basic mountains

And then you see the nonbasics:

manland

Ban Mana Leak please.

by seedub on 2012-01-06 14:49 CET

Banning leak might be a litte strong, im ready for them to stop reprinted it already tho lol. sure its cool and gives u a 2 mana counter without being broken late game like counterspell but damn. particularly with snapcaster around we need a format without a 2 mana counter for a while

by xJudicatorx on 2012-01-06 18:42 CET

They don't need to ban mana leak, just print something which is resilient to counters obviously(i.e. Hidden Gibbons, Volcanic Fallout, Gaea's Herald). Thrun, being legendary and 4 cmc, is obviously not enough.

Well gotta Admit, miss you GSS, but heck no, we dont need bans and we especially dont need any hate-cards right now. Dont twist up Meta-Dominances and the Inability to build Metadecks.
